Yesterday I ran out to the store just to pick up a few quick items. When I got back home, for some odd reason my car alarm started blaring when I turned the car off. I know I must have hit something to trigger that, but for the life of me, I have no idea what it was.
I had this happen once many years ago, and was able to get the alarm to stop right away. However yesterday, nothing I would do seemed to make it stop. I tried doing various re-locking, unlocking combinations, but it just kept on and on and on.
Now in reality, it was probably going off for less than three minutes before I finally hit the right combination to make it shut up, but it just felt like forever.
I live in a townhouse complex and I was very embarrassed to be disturbing my neighbors. Thankfully it wasn't early in the morning, but still I felt horrified.
I had a mechanic take a quick peek at it yesterday afternoon, and it started up / shut down right away without any horrible alarms going off. Hopefully that's the end of it for good.

My apartment block is just next to the multi-stories car park.
When the alarm of a car gets crazy, and the owner does not know about it, the shrill will haunt us for a few hours.
It happens a few times, and my neighbors always call the police.
