This miracle food can turn you into a sexual dynamo, even in your 80s!

OK, this is my revenge against an ad that kept popping upon MyLot this morning and wouldn't go away. It actually wasn't a silly miracle food ad, and if I see it again, the product it's advertising will go on my "no buy" list, like Wisk for the "ring around the collar" torment of my childhood days. Anyway, can you tell what the food is I had in my salad this early afternoon? It really is delicious. I just threw it, some leftover canned corn and some leftover mandarin oranges in a bowl, topped it all with Maries' Blue Cheese dressing, and called it lunch. It was actually quite good. A bonus question: Can you tell where in the world the bowl I used comes from? I actually got this bowl on a trip to that place, and it's survived (albeit with some chips) for more than ten years. I'm guessing that Anna will get this one. Hold off if you see this and know, Anna!

The white things look like scallops to me. No not scallops but for the life of me I can't place them.

It looks German to me. Your salad looks interesting. I thought it was marshmallows not blue cheese dressing.

@just4him @thehorse to be honest, i was surprised that there is a product called marshmallow spread (creme/fluff) sold in tubs and bottles.

Heh heh. That (marshmallows) would be strange! The bowl is from Italy.

@TheHorse Marshmallows would be strange, but that's what they look like Italy eh? It's a beautiful bowl.

My best guess for the bowl might be Switzerland (based on Anna being asked not to answer) but it looks rather oriental to me - I might have said Japan, perhaps? The white 'things' seem to be a root vegetable - long rather than spherical - too white for parsnip, so perhaps mooli?

@owlwings @TheHorse Yes Mooli is a root vegetable, it is common in India. In english it is described as Radish but as Owl said, the word Mooli is popular for it even there

This surely is a clay bowl, I see some parts missing on the outer border. It can be Italian, they make those bowls both in the south and in the Ligurian region. Does this come from Albenga? Did you add bamboo shoots to your salad? I like them, they are delicious.

@TheHorse The city for glass blowing is Murano (near Venice), but in that area they also do ceramics.

@DaddyEvil ..I definitely did not think that it was bamboo shoot..but ..I thought it looked more like radish or sugar cane pieces we get out here.

No, those aren't bamboo shoots, Anna. I grow and eat bamboo here at home. That is palm heart, pony? It doesn't look quite right for palm hearts.

Should you ask such a question? LOL My suggestion is to just go chew on tree bark and roots. I'm not real sure it can be considered food.

That looks quite a nice colourful lunch. I am not keen on Radish or Mooli either. I would have hazard a guess the bowl had come from Japan initially but then I have read to comments and your clue to Anna to keep quiet.

I think Japanese ceramics would have more colors in it. Here it is simply blue on white.

@vandana7 Yes, many things from that Italian city are blue and white. But I do have one piece from there that's multi-colored. Maybe I'll take a picture and do a post about it. It's pretty!

Yep. It's from Italy. Umbria, to be almost exact. I don't think anyone has mentioned the city it's from yet. It's known for ceramics.

Looks liked it could be string cheese cut up along with the mandarins and corn. I'l stick to a tossed spring salad with tomatoes and chick peas. I also add some dried cranberries to it as well. I love the blue colors in your favorite bowl. I have no idea where you found it, but it is lovely.

For the food I was going to say jicama, but it was too skinny and round. I then thought of daikon, but that is a root veggie. Is it heart of palm? I have never had that. I am not that good on my crafts from Italy, so I could not say where the bowl came from.

@TheHorse It doesn't come off as too sweet with the oranges and corn? Well, maybe the bitterness of the hearts of palms balances it out.
