A near death experience passes me by today

Just today, I was waiting for the green right turn arrow to show on the traffic lights. It came after a short wait, and I proceeded with my right turn. I was on my way to the local church, with my wife.
Just then, another car went right through the red light. It was coming directly for my car. My wife later told me that the guy had his head down, texting something into his mobile phone.
Somehow the scene then slowed right down. His car seemed to slow, as did mine. Then somehow, miraculously even, we moved past each other, without hitting each other.
“What happened there?”, I then asked myself.
The Zen master said to his student, “Do you want to be a master today, or tomorrow?”
The student replied, “Today, of course.”
And all the master then replied to him was, “Own it, be it, and let the rest go.”
The student was immediately enlightened at this because, none of the rest, even all of his past history up until then ever counts against you, when you see, or become aware of the inner growth that is being obtained by you as your soul.
Your soul is always growing in its aware consciousness from your experiences.
Your outer life itself is rather miniscule in its way, but because you are overly focussed upon it right now, you might think that you are not growing much at all, but these fifty odd years that you have might have already lived up until now are as nothing to your soul.
This aside though, really the growth in you has been phenomenal, in your moving stuff across to your consciousness, from your unconscious knowing of it.
This is what counts.
The outer application of this increased consciousness will come as required, like today, when I went into slomo mode, and avoided that accident, even though my karma was pulling me into it to happen for me to me today.
I felt this pulling of me towards the accident, and it seemed unavoidable to avoid, as I seemed to be numbed into a trance of some sort, and I felt that could do nothing of myself to avoid the coming collision, or so it had seemed to me, at the time.
That’s why I felt spaced out, and as if I was in a time warp, for a moment.
Have you ever experienced anything similar to this?

Good that you lived to tell the tale Steve. Maybe, God has answered your yearning to feel His presence!
No such experiences yet, but in times of general anesthesia I have had some out of body experiences with angels hovering over me, even comforting me. It is tough to connect with reality here what we go through during such times, sort of living in another dimension.
We need good balance between body, mind and soul to get by each day and enjoy our times here. If body or mind gives away then we are in dire straits.
Modern gadgets are dictating our lives, causing us accidents, and even if we take the most care we can become victims due to others' negligence - so it may well be time for driverless cars! siva

@Shiva49 My mum, a bit older than you, just had that done in one eye in December, will get the other one done in March this year.
It's a great thing for her, her left eye is now 20/20 vision.

@innertalks My right eye, after surgery, has almost perfect vision but the left eye looks good to me for now. That is why I am confused as what I understand is the cataract should be in the "Goldilocks Zone", mature to the right stage. It looks like it is no more necessary. I would prefer to wear glasses even with 20/20 vision to keep away dust etc
One of the charities I have been contributing does cataract surgery on a massive scale in India. They charge only Rs 1,000 (USD 15) for the entire procedure. I came to know many millions lead a "clouded vision" life and this surgery made them walk with a spring in their steps (without tripping over!) siva

@innertalks I have had cataract surgery in one eye, the other would need too. The doctor says she has been ready right after the first was over, but I am sort of postponing it. When it is time to meet the angels (for a while only!), I will go for it! siva

It is actually illegal for them to be doing this when they are driving too. You are not allowed to use your mobile phone while driving a car.

@innertalks Yes, you are right, use mobile phone while driving a car is very dangerous. In my country when the polices know about the violation they will give punishment to the former.

I am glad too. There are so many accidents happening these days. That would have been a big one.
I had a small incident the day before, when I was in the city. I had my camera in one of those anti theft waist bags, you place around your waist. I was removing my camera from there to take a snap, and being all hands and butter fingers, I dropped my camera onto the pavement.
It still seemed to work, and so on the day, I was not so annoyed, relieved actually, but then when I tried to upload the photos to my computer later, my computer would not do this, telling me that the camera was faulty, in some way. A connection must had been loosened by my dropping it, I suspect.
These annoying little happenings, at least I got away from a possible big happening yesterday!!

Yes, I have. I was walking across a highway. When I car ran a red light. To me it felt like someone was holding in that spot but there was no one there. The car just missed me.

@innertalks Something stop me in my track just in time. The car would have hit me and at the speed it was going I don't think i would have lived.

@whiteream Maybe it was your guardian angel, even the bible tells us that we each have such an angel looking over us, and working with us, if we allow it to do so.
