False negatives are way more common than false positives.
You should be able to get an accurate result within about 2 weeks from conception, which is approximately around the time your period usually happens if your cycles are regular. Test in the morning with your first urine, since the chemical being tested for will be more concentrated when you first wake up.

I have not had a false negative result in the past. Anytime I took a pregnancy test my results were accurate, as either I was already late or my cycle showed up a day or so later. False negatives can occur if your urine is too diluted or you are testing too early. You may want to test again, making sure to use your first morning pee and a non expired test.
