In a recent wildlife photography session in Rwanda's Volcanoes National Park, photographer, Christophe Courteau didn't do his homework before approaching a silverback gorilla.
Once he got too close, the silverback responded violently by attacking the man and throwing asunder the camera across the surrounding area.
Silverbacks are territorial and don't like proximity of other animals. The animal took Corteau as if he were a male animal and basically let him know he was not welcome. He pushed him to the ground and retreated to safety.
Corteau simply wanted to get close up shots of the silverback but he should have just used a lens that allowed for wide angles with good zoom. It could have been deadly for him such as a smack from a bear. He was fortunate enough to just be pushed to the ground and left alone.
