Selfies

I still do not get the whole idea behind a "selfie". It's understandable if you want a photo of yourself and there's no one around to take the photo. I also understand the fact that you want to prove you were somewhere of importance and a photo as proof is acceptable.
But to take a selfie for attention seeking reasons of vanity or ego doesn't really seem reasonable to me. I don't need to see the cliche selfie of your newly acquired tan achieved through your laying on your back for countless hours, or your swollen biceps oozing sweat from your just finished testosterone filled workout.
I guess, what i've realized, is that selfies is the new form of bragging, but instead of words, one now has pic proof.

I get the feeling that a person who takes lots of selfies is the same person that would in the past stop at every mirror.

They say that too much obsessiveness with selfies is a mental issue. I hate taking selfie too and unless I'm alone in a place and there's a nice view. I would take a selfie no matter how embarrassing it is. But to use them for likes and thumbs up. Totally not my thing.

I remember before 2009 it is not even a word and now it is in the dictionary. I hate the fact that a celebrity doing a selfie is becoming a news headline.

Yes I find the selfie trend a bit much myself but I guess it is here to stay.

@Plethos It appears to be more of a young person thing. When one gts to a certain age, the camera is not your friend lol

@BelleStarr - ("certain age") i remember when cameras were used to take actual pictures, not selfies . . . lol, i think i "certainly aged" myself on that one.

yes and FB is the worst for (mostly teens) that change their photos every couple of days just because they like looking at themselves and for others to look

Well, Plethos, at least Daisy and Minnie posed nicely for you! Their expressions DO look a little stiff.... Were you holding them at gunpoint?
DUDE! I'm sorry, but that is just wrong!
I took a selfie several weeks ago. I had an allergic reaction. It looks pretty cool, too! NOT! I look like the Michelin Man! Hmmm.... or the Pillsbury Doughboy! (No joke!)
But it's funny now!
