I'm not sure who originally started this challenge but I have read several on myLot from different people. I know I'm a little late doing it but better late than never. So, here are seven memories from my childhood: 1. Playing in the rain - I remember being able to play in the rain but only if there was no thunder or lightening. 2. The black kitten - falling out of a treehouse in order to save the kitten from being hurt by the fall. 3. Playing games outside - we used to all get together outside, friends and cousins, and play games such as Red Light/Green Light, Mother May I, Simon Says, Freeze Tag. 4. Playing jacks - I used to love to play jacks and my best friend and I could play all day long on our front porch. 5. Hopskotch - We used to use chalk and draw out the hopskotch in our driveway. Both boys and girls would play together. 6. Jump Rope - Another game we used to play in our driveway. We got really good at doing different things with the rope but I can't remember what they were called now. 7. Piano - An elderly lady was a friend of my friend and I and she would let us come in her home at times and play her piano. My friend could play but I could only do chopsticks. I always wanted to learn how to play the piano. What are some things you remember about your childhood?

These bring back some of my childhood memories as well. It's so nice to know that you were playing so many games.

@simone10 I did play some games, but not many. I only played outside when I was before grade 1, but after that I remembered I was "required" to stay at home most of the time - to study. That's why my husband always said I don't really have "childhood time", as most of the time I was studying instead of playing.

@kaka135 That is all we did as kids, anything that we could do outside was what we did.

I loved playing all the games you did, and playing in the rain. I can play the piano, and right now I have my parent's organ, but I need to learn how to play it.

I always regretted not being able to play the piano. I know I could learn now but I just don't have the patience anymore.

@simone10 It isn't hard to learn. It's like anything we do, reading, typing, once you learn, it's easy.

@Hatley I remember playing those too, although hopscotch was usually at school, or the rec center. The kids in the neighborhood liked to cheat when we'd play mother may I or freeze tag, so I wasn't as interested in playing those games.

It was so much fun then, wasn't it? Kids these days all just want to play their electronic gadgets and not use their imagination.

That would have scared me too. I remember there being an earthquake when my daughter was a newborn and it scared the heck out of me then.

I remember playing pretty well all day with a jump rope (we called it a skipping rope). We didn't need any fancy things in those days did we - a rope, a ball, a piece of chalk, and some friends.

No, nothing fancy at all, a much simpler time. The only thing I would add to your list is our imaginations. We could do anything using our imaginations.

@simone10 We stayed out until dark, and mom would stand on the front porch and yell for us to come home. Good times for sure.

Sadly, we never had a tree house but I want to learn the piano too. I love being a child but I also love being adult. Our goal now is to give our children a happy and memorable childhood.

I agree and I hope my children did have a memorable childhood. They played outside and used their imagination just like I did.

I loved to play jacks too, it was one game that you really could play all by yourself and it was fun. I remember my father stepping on one of my Jacks, I had to run that day lol

Do kids still do 3,4,5 and 6?? I honestly haven't seen kids playing on the sidewalk or in the street for years. The only times I see kids playing are in school yards during school hours. Do parents allow kids to just be kids and play after school?

Hard to think of just a few memories! I remember playing kick ball with the neighbors, in our cul-de-sac. Since I was a latch-key child, I could only play on the weekends-during the week, we had to stay in the house.

@simone10 My mom was a bit of a conudrum-she and my dad were married in late 64, but didn't get pregnant with me until early 1971, and until then, my mom worked full time. She did stay home for 4 years, but wasn't happy with the school district they lived in, and moved us to a new one, where the price of the home was higher, and taxes were more. She began working overnights, but once my sister entered school full time, mom went back to work full time. Not sure if I played Kick the Can-what are the rules? I was the only kid that I knew that came home to Dad after school-and he let me watch old Warner Brothers cartoons on Saturdays, before he left for work.

We have some things in common here. I also enjoyed playing in the rain, and playing all sorts of games outside. I also wanted to learn piano but we were poor and could not afford to pay the fee.
