Have You Ever Saved Someone's Life?

When I was younger, about 6 I think, my dad and I did and I will never forget that night.
We had taken daddy's small fishing boat out and were fishing on the far side of the lake from where we were camped, when a big storm blew in suddenly. As we loaded up our fishing gear I heard someone shouting for help.
We tried to follow the calls for help through the sound of the wind and finally spotted a small boat that had been blown back into the cattails. Inside the boat was a young couple and the woman was quite pregnant.
Their motor had died and they had been swept into a cove by the waves that were getting stronger and stronger.
My dad had a tow rope in the boat and they tied one end to the front of their small boat. We couldn't tie the other end to ours as it was pulling the front of their boat down and they would take in water, so my dad held the other end of the rope while I stood up and drove the boat.
Luckily, my dad had taught me how to drive the boat and coached me as we towed this little boat through high winds and waves. It took what seemed like forever to get back to shore.
I remember as we got close to the dock there was a crowd of people standing on the dock cheering us in. As we got them out of their boat, people were patting me on the head and telling me how brave I was. At 6 years old, I didn't understand just how dangerous that had been, but I remember I felt very good about myself and very proud of my dad.
Have you ever saved someone's life? I would love to hear your story!

Good for you Sheila! Yes I once saved my brothers life or at least I believe so. We were very young and he was on a lock in the water in Ireland and I saved him then as I recall the water was rising.
He then saved my life on the railroad tracks when the train was coming when we were children too.

That is amazing! God puts people in places at the right time to help others who need it. I saved my son's life by doing the Heimlich maneuver when he was 3 years old, he was choking and turning blue. I also saved a puppy's life from when my dog gave birth. That's about it though.

God does put people in the right place at the right time! It's wonderful that you knew the Heimlich maneuver in order to save your son's life. Just think how horrible it would have been, if you did not! Saving the life of that puppy is awesome too! You have been a hero (heroine) twice!

You may just save them without knowing it, emotional struggle is far too real

Wow what an amazing story. I fish and we have a boat. That was a very scary situation. You are a hero both you and your dad.

I would say that if you were in a similar situation, you would do what needed to be done too!

Perhaps you have, Maria, and you just don't know it! Many times people are heroes without realizing it!

Oh wow @sgbrown , you were pretty darn brave for being 6. I've saved lots of critters but never a human.

assisting in having somebody lengthen her life, I do that, but saving her just like your experience, I have not yet done that.

That was awfully brave of you! You must've been terrified though!
Yes, not really "save" per se, but my dad has epilepsy and he gets these random fits at night.
This once I woke to his alarm ringing, normally I ignore it, but this time I went to the living area to switch it off. My dad was half asleep on the sofa, and when I asked him to go to bed, he woke with a start and I noticed he was biting his tongue really hard, and couldn't talk. He stood up but lost his balance, and then I took him to Mum, after which he fell unconscious and blanked out about all that had happened that night.
I was extremely scared, as I've never seen my father like that, and I hope to never relive that incident again.

That would be very scary, @Vaishnavi1 You could have saved his life by being there at the right time. Who know what could have happened had you not got up to check on the alarm!

Yes I have saved. It's a great feeling to bring someone to the Lord, brings a smile to our saviors face. Jeremiah 29:11 He knows the plans he has for us. Lets live this life bringing as many people to the lord. Blessings.
