The title is weird.I am reading a novel on "The Girl on the Train"
I just starting to read this .This so they say a best seller etc.
This is a person who take the same commuter.Every day and every night.
I will not say any more about this. But the thing that as she has a flashback about her earlier day and the friend that she had.One person that she had call her
a half friend.I have never heard of the expression at all.
Then why is this call half friend. Then I figured it out and not sure if this is correct
half friend is a person you see half of the time.
Now tell me.That this make sense to you?
Have you heard of the expression before?
The novel take place in England.
OR THAT THEY MEAN NOT CLOSE?

Another user wrote about this book, but I have not yet read it. I have heard "half friend" only mentioned about Facebook. According the Urban Dictionary
"when you set your privacy settings on Facebook to not include tagged pics, access to your wall".
Very strange.

I would think that it conveys friends that do not see eachother much and therefore are not the closest Fredo. Sounds interesting novel though. Enjoy it! But judging by what Anna said below that must be urban slang ..

There is a book by a popular Indian author called Half a girl friend. I have wondered about the expression but have not read the book.

I have never heard this used, and I'm English! Do you recommend reading the book? I might take a gander if you do. I should follow in its successful footsteps and write a novel called The Girl on the Bus!
