Thyroid hormones: Thyroid hormones affect the function of virtually every organ system. Thyroid hormones affect the body's use of vitamins, proteins, carbohydrates, fats, electrolytes, and water, and regulate the body's immune response. They can also alter the actions of other hormones and drugs. There are two major thyroid hormones secreted from the thyroid gland: thyroxine(T4) and L-triiodothyronine (T3). T4 is secreted solely from the body's thyroid gland, and the majority of T3 is converted outside of the thyroid gland from the inactive T4 to the more potent T3. Thyroid hormones regulate cell metabolism (energy production). When the gland releases fewer hormones than the body needs, the result is hypothyroidism, but when excess hormones are released, the result is hyperthyroidism Yoga for Thyroid Disorder: Acording to yoga a blockage of life force to one part of the body, such as the thyroid gland, is usually caused by a slight misalignment of a vertebra which impinges on the nerve that travels to that particular organ. If the spinal misalignment is not corrected, the organ not functions at its optimum level and may develop pathology. Yoga Asanas give exercise to the neck region. yoga has positive and stimulating impact on the endocrine organs, especially the thyroid and parathyroid glands. Yoga helps the thyroid gland to work at peak efficiency. Note: If you have high blood pressure, consult yoga expert and physician. You might also consider modifying it using a chair to make it more restorative. For more about Yoga for Thyroid Disorder http://www.theholisticcare.com
