Adult trikes

Anybody here have an adult trike that they ride routinely? I mean the big bicycles that have handy baskets on them. I have thought about owning one but really do not have a place to ride one. I would be afraid to ride one near traffic. The trikes that I have seen look like they would be handy for going to the store with- if you could lock one to something while you were in the store. Maybe the trike idea would work in a place like Florida?

I have a bicycle not a trike. I should put a basket on it though.

@fishtiger58 I'm glad you still have youthful vigor and the ability to ride a bike.

@fishtiger58 How lovely. I do not have the knees or balance these days. I am best keeping to the ground.

@sallypup Me too, my husband and I are retired but we take a bike ride almost every night weather permitting.

I never heard of adult tricycles. I think a regular bicycle would suit me better and be faster too.

@dalane The bike of course looks like a kid's trike but large. Its made for the older rider who can't balance a 2 wheeled any more- like me. I used to love to fly down the road on a bike but not now.

We have an adult trike but it has flat tires. It's big.

@zebra2222 Do you have to have special tires that cost a bunch? Did you ride your trike at one time? I kind of wish there was a more adult way to call the adult trike- maybe a three wheeler.

Yes it does! I live in a senior complex and 50% have, what we call, senior chariots!!

@greatmartin Fun. Are there grocery stores and cafes nearby? I imagine the people and chariots being quite colorful and fun.

My neighbor, who is in his 30s, somehow acquired one of these trikes. He's always wheeling and dealing so I think he got it through a trade. Anyway he used to put his kids in the basket and take them for rides. He eventually painted it up, and since I haven't seen it lately, he must have sold it or traded it for something else. In the summer I see people riding these trikes every now and then down the side of the road.

I have never had one, but a friend of mine had one for when they spent the winter in Florida at a campground

@anneej A campground in Florida would be fun if you liked the folks around you. A trike in such a place would be perfect.
