My cousin just got a message from facebook from one of her cousins, she new of but the family lost contact with many years ago. The cousin was the son of my father. He didn't contact me because I go by my married name and so he would not know me. However, I messaged him to let him know I existed. She found out my father died in 2004.
You don't have to send your condolences, the man didn't want any part of me when he was alive and went as far as to say I was not his daughter anyhow.
His mother kept his father away from his own family and we were never in touch because of it. The last time I saw the creep that I thought was my father was at my grandmother's funeral. He never bothered to show up at his own brothers funeral.
Have you ever gotten reacquainted with lost family on facebook or elsewhere?

We connected with the daughter, my sister, that my mother gave up for adoption. It was great to get to meet her. We have tried several times to get her to come visit us again. My husband and I have been the only ones from our family to visit her and her wife at their home. They live almost 4 hours away.

@winterose I wish she lived a bit closer. She lives about 30 minutes from the beach in Maine. I was hoping to go visit her this summer, but as luck would have it, it didn't happen.

I have connected with family that I have never met via Facebook. They live in another country.

If he writes back maybe. His mother kept me hidden from him all these years.
