Mylot Walking Club

I am just wondering if anyone here on this site would like to participate in my little "Mylot Walking Club". It could be a place where you can come and brag about your walking progress every day or whenever you do your walking. I try to walk as much as I can when I don't feel bad, so it is not every day. But I noticed that when I do the walking, I feel so much better mentally. It also keeps me from gaining weight. So, what do you say? Are you in?

You are right. Walking is awesome in so many ways. I alternate walking with bike riding in Florida.

Hello Dianne, I used to bike a lot but not anymore. But I walk as much as I can.

@ElizabethWallace I have the same problem with my knees. If I do too much they swell up

I would love to ride bikes, but my right knee blows up like a balloon if I try. So you enjoy your rides and tell us all about them, so those of us unable to ride can enjoy them through you.

Walking is out for me for now, we are in a heat wave, heading toward 38 degrees Celsius, plus humidity and they have warned us to stay indoors if possible. When the temps cool I might start taking my walks again. Enjoy your walking. :-)

@marlina , no, we do not, and my family and I have sinusitis, so we only have windows and doors standing open, it is like living in an oven.

I think that I ought to join your walking club. It's a pity, perhaps, that MyLot isn't better set up for this sort of thing but 'discussions' are 'discussions' and the format doesn't fit awfully well. I used to love walking - well, strolling at a reasonable pace was ever my forte, rather than serious 'walking'. Ever since I spent ten days in hospital, however, after a fairly serious operation nearly four years ago, I lost the ability to walk very far. I have been meaning to build up my walking distance. I can manage maybe 500m at the moment and then need a rest (fortunately, the nearest pub is about that far away!). What I need to do is to go just a little further every day until I get my muscle tone back.

@marlina Yes, I know the Nordic poles and know how they work. Maybe I should try something like that. Thanks.

I would love it if you care to join this #Mylot walking club. I must say that it is helping me to keep motivated myself. I have lots of health problems and it is not easy for me to exercise but every little bit helps. When I had surgery on my foot and leg (years ago) I had a very hard time walking. What I did is buy me some Nordic poles and this how it really, really helped me at first. Ever heard of Nordic poles?

You have a good idea for sure, but I'll have to be a party pooper. I don't walk, I was never into it at all.

I went for a brisk walk outside this afternoon. The sun was shining, it was cold, but dry, so a perfect afternoon for a good walk.

#Mylot Walking Club,
Wonderful that you are now an "official member" of my #Mylot Walking Club, my version of course. It does help me as I just came back from walking 36 minutes downstairs and I put a lot of energy into it. Now feel wonderful and coming here is my little rest and reward moment.

Sure, but it would have to wait until it stops raining. Or, I could mention how many times I use my mini stepper device inside. What do you think? Does walking on this contraption count as walking?

@ElizabethWallace, Sorry, I didn't see the photo before now. This stepper sure does count, everything you do for moving the "body" counts. Do you feel better after you step on it for a while? I bet you do!

Count me in I really have to get motivated, it would make my hubby happy if I did. On the icy days however I will use my elliptical instead, a ski machine type deal, if that's ok.
