We really did not have the money to spend on it but it's something that he needed. As much as at first I said a big fat no due to wanting to save for a place-it is important, especially with me being pregnant.
My husband did not have a phone for a few months and he was getting really concerned as I come to the end of my pregnancy. He said he needed a phone in case I go into labor while he was at work. He works with a couple of other guys but they are not always on the same job with him so it was risky for sure.
I am actually glad now that he has a phone because if I go into labor I definitely want to be able to let him know to get home! It's nothing fancy or anything. I didn't really want to spend the money but in this case...a phone is a good idea.

I'm the only person I know who doesn't have any form of phone.
I think i may get a cheap one in the next month or so as my sisters and dad complain they can't get hold of me

really he should have that, because it becomes difficult in today's world,if your not in touch with your loved one's,especially when it comes to you, even you can't imagine a minute, without knowing, what he's doing,he's safe or not bla bla bla.

It's good he got a phone if it makes you and him have peace of mind. There aer so many "free" phone services available I see adds for on facebook all the time, I am not sure if he would have qualified for one of those or not. Tracfone I think is the cheapest prepaid that is what I use. I get the 100 card for a year and triple minutes so like 1200 minutes with a year expiring date and I never use that ever so it works for me.

@krazykatlady Yeah, he definitely needs one for when I go into labor. That's good, he went through family mobile for $35 a month unlimited everything. So it's not bad.

I have an old phone, but it still works when I need to talk and send text messages and call. if there is an emergency. In your case it is even more important.. All the best for you and baby!

Yes, and the money you spend will be saved in anxiety. You can get really inexpensive ones that are prepaid that work fine and cost about $7 per month.

Definitely the best idea. You don't want to go on your own to the hospital or have nobody in case it's time. It's important for communication so no need for fancy features until you can really afford it already. Good luck!

Now, a phone is no longer a luxury, but a necessity. Of course there are those who get phones just for the sake of having one or being able to get their hands on the applications and games and cool stuff technology has to offer. There's nothing wrong with that but I am all for practicality first. I'm glad now that you have a way to reach him whenever. Good luck and congratulations on the new baby!
