YAY! First Ebay Sale of the Year.

I'm happy that I've just sold an item on Ebay - my first Ebay sale of this year. It's not huge, but at least it's a little money and something else gone from the house. One day I will have succeeded in decluttering! Or at least, that's what I hope. Even better is the fact that the purchaser paid straight away, and in turn I booked the courier straight away and packaged the item up, so now it's sitting ready for the courier to collect. It's rare that things go quite as smoothly as that. All packaged up in less than 30 minutes from the purchaser pressed the buy button. Do you sell much on Ebay? I am trying to continually have things listed on Ebay in my mission of clearing the house of clutter. At times (like now) when things go smoothly Ebay seems great, but then there's other times when hassles appear causing you to doubt the whole point of your effort.

I used to sell the odd thing on eBay. I am so glad you got your first sale of the year. Msg me your page, I will have a look at it. Yeah I got some big things I need to sell, but wont sell on craigslist as I dont want strangers coming here. Dangerous.

Thanks. Even better I've just sold another item. Was listed as a buy it now or best offer and just received an acceptable offer, so went with that. Oh, and just checked - also been paid for that. Yeah - not too keen on having people I don't know come to the house, which is probably why I prefer to sell on ebay and then either post or have a courier collect. Right - best go and book the courier for my other sale and get that packaged up. Two items in one night - I'm obviously on a roll.

@trivia79 Yeah, Ebay has fees and they seem to be getting worse. There is a listing fee, but I usually manage to avoid that as they offer 20 free listings per month, or sometimes they have say a weekend when they will let you list 100 items with no listing fees. However, even if you can avoid the listing fees, the Final Value Fees almost always come in to play and worse still not only do they charge the fee based on what your item sold for, but now the fee also is added to the shipping charge, which I really object to as if a seller charges too much for shipping, buyers will mark them down for that in feedback. And then that's just the Ebay fees - Most people choose to pay via paypal and that also has fees with it. So, between both quite a bit is taken from what you sell for.

Best products to sell? Probably just whatever the latest trend is if you can get hold of it. However, I usually only sell items we already have in the house and do not need, so doesn't always make decent money, but at least it's out the house and someone will get use of whatever it is. If you've anything that you no longer want, then you should try and see how you get on. But do remember Ebay fees are quite high when you are thinking of the minimum price you would like for something.

That's a good beginning and I am happy for you. Did you sell in Ebay.uk? Are many people interested in buying products from it? Here Ebay is not so popular and we buy from Taobao and other online stores much more.

@BluestEye Taobao may be the most popular online shopping website in my country. Its company is called Alibaba and you may hear about it.

@youless I had heard of Alibaba, but never heard of Taobao before. Think though here Alibaba is more used by companies for wholesale, so not any use to someone selling individual items.

Congratulations on your first sale! I personally have never sold on eBay, but I have sold clothes through an app called Poshmark though. (New/old clothes, shoes)

@Darroch Aw bummer. Yes, it is an app I download to my phone (Apple) and I can post clothes, make up, shoes, bags, and much more new or used (pre-loved) and sale to others. The company Poshmark takes 20% and I keep the 80% profit. The buyer pays for shipping. It's awesome because I get some extra cash for clothes I hoard.

Afraid I don't really have much musical knowledge, so wouldn't have a clue of where to sell song lyrics. Hopefully you manage to find somewhere.

I sell on ebay too. I got one sale and thats it. Do people really buy stuff on ebay? Because in our country, we have a different website people visit for their online shopping. I also thought of selling internationally that it could give me income. Do you sell internationally?

I went back selling on eBay in January last year so I have been consistently listing for a year now. I don't make much profit but I average about 1-2 sales a week so far on there. Congratulations on your first 2016 sale!

I've also had breaks from it for quite a while - months, if not years. Just I guess now I am getting more determined to try and clear the clutter, so keep pushing myself even at times I really can't be bothered. Do you think you will go back to selling on Ebay soon? Or even somewhere else?
