I am sure you are like no way. I was like that as well when i saw the poor woman. Did the judge surely think the woman can go and steal the two chairs? She may not even have the energy to carry the two of them. However i am glad she was released today but she did not have to spend the night in jail.
An 87-year old woman in Migori will spend two months in prison after she was allegedly found in possession of two stolen plastic chairs.

The judge probably rule according to the evidence, but at least she is out now.

But they could have gone for the person who brought the chairs to her instead

Two months of jail for 1100 KES. I converted the money : 1100 KES is worth 10 Euros ! I cannot imagine somebody lodging a complaint for 10 Euros here and a policeman accepting to take it. This judge is wasting the money of the tax payers.

@Missmwngi I hope that she was not released only because her daughter spoke of her case on the TV... Putting a 87 years old woman in jail for two plastic chairs worth quite nothing that she did not stole is a shame. I read that "her theft case was not determined" yet : did the judge thought that she would live the country before the day of the trial?

I think some of the people who work in law enforcement try to do things by the books with little reguard for the obvious.

@Missmwngi if the owner is just as old as that lady, I guess it's not really about the stolen chairs. They must have had a bad history together.

Amazing. And yes, crazy and a tad on the mean side. My Mom loved to get away with stuff by saying: "You know I am 94." So whatever popped out of Mom's mouth had to be fine cause hey, she's elderly and you got to forgive her cause of that, right?

Judge? In the court? Why it had gone that far? it should be the head of police station first who will decide.

They would have even forwarded the case to the chief instead of taking matter that far
