My daughter made me lap afghan for Christmas

My daughter loves making things, so she made me this afghan for Christmas. I put it on the back of the couch, instead of using it to cover up my legs when I get cold.
I think it is beautiful, and the most precious afghan that she has ever made me. It is from Psalms 23.
I will cherish it always, and I will always be thankful she took the time to make it, and give it to me as a nice Christmas gift. She asked me what colors I liked, but I never thought it would be as beautiful as it is.

@celticeagle I certainly am, as she used my favorite colors, and they all look so good together. I am happy that she took the time to make it.

I think so too, and I just love it. When she asked me what colors I like, I didn't know what it was for, and I am so pleased with it too. The colors go beaurtiful together. She told me she was making me something for Christmas, and I never knew it was going to be what it is.

I taught her how to crochet when she was younger, and now she does more than I do. I guess she crocheted herself decoreations for the different holidays. That is something i have never thought of doing, but I applaud her for doing it. She is really good at what she does.

@Elizaby I do croecheting too, but never anything like this, althought I have crocheted baby blankets and layettes. Handmade items are better I thihk, as the person making them, take the time to get it right and will keep doing it until it is right. I am a perfectionist too, as what i make,I like to make perfect too.

@CookieMonster46 those of us who now know discovered it accidentally and just keep sharing it to those who still don't know so they can also appreciate the pictures. there is even a space below for captions. what's ever nicer is we can also post a picture in portrait orientation (upright), not just landscape (sideways) always.

@just4him I will definitely use it, as i do get cold sometimes in the evenings, so I can cover up my legs with it then. It will be a great blanket to take to church to keep my legs warm, as the furnace is not working like it should, and since I wear dresses to church, I need to put something on my legs to keep them warm.

I had crocheted a baby blanket that had the alphabet crocheted on it. It was very time consuming, that is for sure. I enjoyed doing it, and it turned out really great, and the ones that I made it for, really liked it, and they said that they will cherish it too.

That is a gorgeous piece of work. I am envious of anyone who can create work like that. I do crochet and knit, but am a novice at best.

@rosekiss I have to have someone show me how to do a certain stitch. Once I get the hang of it I am okay. Following instructions has always been challenging to me.

@ElusiveButterfly Some of the stitches can be hard to do at times, and ever patterns, but I do manage to get through them. I love crochting more than knitting, but I do love both. Crocheting is easier to do and goes faster, than knitting.

@Rosekitty When I first saw the looms, I thought that it was interesting that I can actually make a knitted item with it. I have a sock loom with very small pegs, but of course it is just for sock yarn. I have plenty of that so I can make quite a few socks now. It is a lot of loom knitting. I don't have to worry about needles, just a hook to use on the pegs, and I have several of those in my plastic container.

Yes, so do I. It seems that handmade items go over better than things you buy in the store. I try to make itens over buying them whenever I can. Right now, I am loo knitting a pair of socks. It goes faster than regulare knitting. I have loom knitted several previously to now, as it give me something to do.

Yes she did put a lot of time into it for sure. When she was working on it, she would tell me that she was still crocheting it and that I would like it. She was right. I told her so too, that it is the most beautiful afghan ever. It did take her time to do it, that I know.

@ria1606roy Yea you are so right. I am happy that she learned how to crochet so well. I do corchet too, as I have crocheted baby layettes for mothers that are expecting. They were all so appreciateve of their gifts, and I got a blessing from doing them and giving them. Right now, I am loom knitting a pair of socks which I have done several pairs already.

It certainly was. I was really shocked when I opened it, as I have always wanted to make this particular blanket, but never got around to it. Now that I have one, I won't have to make one for myself. i might try to make it for others though as gfts, as I make a lot of andmade items too, as everyone seems to really like them.

@AnneEJ I have never knitted for anyone as a gift, as I am always afraid that it wouldn't turn out the way it should. I have however, loom knitt4ed some hats and scarves, and I will give them to the homeless, as I know they will need them.

It certainly is. She has just finished me a shawl, that when she gets the money, she is going to send to me. It is a belated birthday gift. I could have made one myself, but she likes doing it so I just let her. Right now, I am loom knitting socks, as I wear socks all year round, so it is cheaper than buying them in the store, and besides, the ones I make hold up much better too. I reinforce both the heel and the toe, which really helps, as that is what wears out first.

I didn't realize how talented she was, until I opened it up and saw it. I knew she was making me something, as she told me she was, but I didn't know what it would be, and I just love it. It is one of the prettiest ones she has ever made me. I am so grateful that she took the time to make it for me.

I taught myself how to crochet, so when she got old enough to learn, then I taught her as well. She caught on really fast, and now, I think in some ways she is better than I am, and I have been crocheting for 50 years. That is a long time, but I started when I graduated from high school. I was living with my dad, and I wanted something to do, so I bought me some how to books, and followed the instructions, until I figured it all out and could make something.
