My next door girl-friend arrived last night, back from hometown. She doesn't have anything for breakfast so I invited her to my place. We had casual conversation after finished breakfast, then she said this:
"Oh, you know what? Finally I ate dog while I'm in hometown. After so long I had chance to taste it again"
YUCK!
I wanted to scratch her face so much and shouting in her face that she just used my plate, spoon, and cup. Oh, God!
I told her, if only she said that before we start eating I would definitely will ask her to go get her own tableware.
I know some people eat dog in my country, even my family. I'm the only one in my family (with my late grandma) who don't eat dog.
I can't understand people around me . WHY WOULD THEY EAT DOG?
I'm going nuts just to think that my tableware just contaminated by someone who eats dog not long ago. Even I did not want to wash dishes when I was still living with my parents if they have dog for meal. I would not touch it or sit on the same table with them. Not using the same sponge when I wash my dishes. It feels like I can smell a dog.
I love dogs as pet, as cuddly friend, and I know how dogs smells like. And that kind of smells not supposed to come from someone's breath, or from tableware that the use to eat.
Really I'm thinking of throwing out my spoon, cup, and plate that she just used. I could not even ask her to wash her dishes because I doubt her hygiene now. And I don't want to touch them either
She felt bad and wanted to wash her dishes, but I said no. She left me after say sorry for the umpteenth time.
My morning just ruined

It is not in my culture to eat dog, but I would not criticize people from other cultures to eat animals that I would not eat. I bred rabbits for meat during a few years to make a living in my country. In France, rabbits are just food ; in UK, they are mainly pets, and some UK friends/cousins were looking at me like if I was a criminal. You can be put in jail in India to have eaten a steak (if you are lucky), or be lynched (if you have less luck) : would not it be better if everyone was accepting the habits of others ? Your friend eats dog, it is her business. Until she does not force you to eat some, it should be alright. Just my opinion.

@sharon6345 I know that opinions are divided about rabbits in USA. Honestly, since I bred rabbits I do not eat them anymore : they helped me at a moment of my life, I find fair to let them in peace.

@topffer You're right, that's people's business if they want to eat dogs or not. But I'm still against it.

@sharon6345 may be I could understand about this dog meats if they breed the dogs for the meats, but it's not, they breed them as a pet. I am aware that people breed rabit some for the meats some as pet. I never eat rabbits meats before, I will never eat rabbits meat especially if I know that it's their own pet that they cook.

Some place in my country people eat dogs. They raise dogs as pet at 1st and when they have like family meeting or party or celebrating something some will come with the idea to cook dog's meats. Someone will offer her/his dog to be cooked.

@hiru84 for me it's horrible. I'm against that culture, even though my family in hometown also eat dogs

I think she will not ever want to eat in your house again.
If this is the culture in your home town, then just get used to it.
The fact that others like to eat dog should not affect you so negatively.
They make their choices, and you eat yours.

It's not common to have dog around my place. But I've heard about places where they do. Also, these are people's personal choices. Aren't they? Not really in favour in it. But what can be done about it.

Meat is meat but we pet dog, some treat dog as part of family. Why would people eat dog while they still have many things around to eat.

@mrswhitfield Any animal can be a pet, yet other people eat the animals. I eat meat so I can't criticize any one else who eats meat. Some people might think pigs are pets.
