I know that Microsoft had ended support for Windows '98 a while back. When this was done I was no longer able to use the laptop that was running Windows '98. I was wondering which system is next? Vista, maybe?
I currently have Windows Vista on my desktop and Windows 8.1 on my laptop. I am worried that they will soon end support for Vista and then I will be doomed to paying for an upgrade or worse yet, another computer.
Does Microsoft give a warning before ending support?

According to Microsoft, Windows Vista support will end on November 4th 2017. For me it is the worst OS ever launched by Microsoft. I switched definitely to Linux, thanks to Vista, and I am very satisfied with it. Installing Linux when MS will end its support, will be a possibility to continue to use your desktop, if you do not want to invest in a new OS for an old computer.

I doubt it. I have been scared for a while now that they will end support for my laptop, win.8. since they keep trying to force win. 10
