~He Got Off Easy!~

Yesterday after church we went to my husband's friends house. He invited us over to have chilli with them. My husband and Jason work together and they were talking about how one guy/child got sent home from work because he was late 4 days out of 5!
They were saying how annoyed the kid was that he got sent home for the rest of the week.
I think he got off easy! He's lucky he didn't get fired. The boss is obviously trying to teach him a lesson, better to learn now at 18 rather than in his 30's.
Hopefully, he will not be late anymore after this.

Yes, late is not an admirable trait for sure.
It is not conducive to the business and why should they tolerate it.
I hope he has learned his lesson.
Was the chili good?

@TiarasOceanView I hope he learns his lesson as well. I didn't have the chili since I don't like it but my husband enjoyed it.

Optimisim is always preferable to pessimism, @LovingMyBabies, so I would have to agree with you there!

I hate how most kids nowadays feel so entitled by merely existing. Kudos for him for trying to teach this kid a good life lesson early in life. I am sure that this will not be the last one that he will learn once he started to join the work force.

@Raine38 I think it was a good thing that this kid learned a lesson as well. He got lucky that he was not fired.

@LovingMyBabies Of course not, and I truly hope your exaggerating about 4 out of 5, because that's more than inappropriate, that just purely disrespectful and careless!

@ataboy Nope, that was the exact number. Every day he had another excuse for being late!

He probably whined "that's not Fair." but cannot see how unfair it is to his coworkers and boss.

@LovingMyBabies A friend had a worker where she worked , he was always late , late back from dinner ect. When challenged he said it was only a few minutes and thought his boss was being silly. My friend took him to one side and explained the situation , he just repeated his thoughts and she sacked him on the spot. He was 19 and thought he knew it all. The rest of the workers who turned up on time and did their job properly had no sympathy for him.

@mrswhitfield I hate being late also, I cannot stand that feeling. I don't know how people do it all the time-it would drive me insane!

I don't think that's teaching him a lesson. The real lesson would be to fire him. The kid will complain for a bit and then be back to work, probably doing the same thing again.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Well I think the boss was trying to teach him without being super tough on him. Hopefully he wont do it again but you never know.

He's the typical kid in society today @LovingMyBabies . No consequences because he wasn't raised right. He's in for some hard lessons.

I've been late to a job one-day in my entire life. And if that sounds like a condensing thing to say; if so then so be it! It's not easy to "preform" in such a way. I can't say I've not been credited for being so punctual several times before. But it is something that I have been pointed out that I do naturally. When someone says be at X by time T I'm at X at time t = -1 X...just to be sure. I happened to never need such a lesson, but if I had, I would have appreciated it. As I've learned other things through similar means!

@ataboy I absolutely hate being late anywhere I go! I got that from my father as he is the same way. I have always been early to work as well-my whole day gets thrown off if I am even a few minutes late. I hate that feeling.

One thing my grand dad taught my brother and I was this simple truth, if someone hires you to work, go to work and do your best. They were looking for someone to hire when they hired you and if you fail on your end you they will hire someone to replace you. Hope the young man learned the lesson. Have a blessed day.

@Dena91 That is some great advice that your grandfather gave you and your brother. It is the truth! I hope he learns a lesson too and changes his ways.
