Thunder and lightning

Thunder and lightning I know the weather is crazy at the minute around the world. I’m sat in bed with my laptop and the bedside lamp on. A few minutes ago I looked towards the window and saw a flash of lightning. Few seconds later a crash of thunder. I wonder what we will have next with the weather. The photo was taken in 2014

Snow? Or so the "legend" goes. We had thunder and lightning here a few weeks ago but no snow as of yet. It did get mighty cold though.

@kevin1877uk I think you misconstrued. I've heard that if it thunders during winter, snow will come ten days later. We've had frost but not much else. It's been too hot relatively speaking.

I am totally afraid of thunder and lightening! It doesn't thunder/lighten often where I live (California).

@infatuatedbby Ok to capture lightning you need to set your camera right. You can't really take photos of lightning during the day, best at night or when it getting dark, darker the better. I have DSLR and using a tripod, and the following setting would be ISO 100, F8 and taking exposures of 8-120 seconds depending on light. Once one shot is taken you take another shot. Time between the lightning to cut down the number of shots if you want to. If the lightning is close together you have a better chance of getting a good shot. All in all its a matter of luck and getting it right. When taking photos of fireworks the same applies but with less time, maybe 3-8s seconds.

Yes, it has been a strange weather year. We're in for an arctic blast for a few days.

@kevin1877uk Single digits. I'm sure the wind chill will be way below zero.

I love lightening storms. But that is odd to have one in the winter. At least here it would be.

That is crazy - Thunder and lightning at this time of year. Wonder what causes that in the winter months. No doubt I could find some weird weather programme that would explain why.

@kevin1877uk Is the rain you have heavy like thunderstorm? Or is it more normal rain? Hope the rain stops for you soon and that you don't end up with any flooding near you.

We been getting some crazy winds and rain today but high 40's. Supposed to drop in the 20's by 6pm and start getting snow tonight. This winter sure is strange indeed but i don't mind since we don't have a foot of snow like we did last year this time of year

We have a dreary rainy day here today but so far no thunder or lightening. Guess with the weather being so crazy it wouldn't surprise me if it happened. I'm just glad it's not mounds of snow we're dealing with
