Think I am in trouble at work :(

I got an email yesterday on my day off work stating my manager wants to have a chat about something that I did at work. It is a bit long winded but the reason why he wants to have a chat is because I asked if I could come off the particular department and go onto another for the rest of the night as I had someone that did not mind switching with me. I had no idea it was something my manager obviously did not approve off! Oh well, we will see what telling off I will get later. Still don't what the issue is as long as the finance department is running smoothly!

@ivyparkgirl No, I hope not, it's possible the boss only want to ask a few questions about the switch.

I did have a chat about it with my manager. Was nothing too serious but he was still quite stern about it!

That is something that could have waited until you went back to work. Now, it's spoiled your day off.

@dibz123 I should not have been able to swtich departments if it is something they frown upon. No other managers have an issue with it apart from mine.

I'm always in trouble at work, but fortunately my boss and I get along very well, so I don't panic too much when she has to call me into her office to yell at me! I told her my job in our department is to go out there and make all the mistakes so everyone else in the department knows what NOT to do! lol

@moffittjc That is good you get along well. I get along okay with mine, but he does take things too seriously compared to other managers. Other managers at work are more relaxed.

@gudheart I have an employee that works under me that is very uptight. I'm always telling him to relax, but his personality is just very type A, and it's impossible for Type A's to ever relax! lol

Maybe they just want you to get it approved by management before you make it a habit.

My manager is the only manager that does not approve of it! Other managers don't mind.

I hate those 'we need to talk" emails from managers at work. If there is a problem they need to just say it to you, not make you wonder for hours or days what is going on.

@gudheart that is too bad, I had something like it happen to me, I was on a reduced work schedule. The new girl came in was given full time, the rest of us were cut back. I complained about it to a few people , someone told the boss I complained he sent me a nasty email about it, I couldn't mention it again, or would be written up.
@gudheart (12659)

It went okay. He told me off a little and told me not to do it again. Which is silly.

Hope it all turns out okay. Sometimes I think managers just do things because they feel they have to justify themselves.

Some superiors just like to feel that they are completely in charge. What's the good in inferiors who can make sound, workable decisions? But seriously, I hope it's not a horrid chat.
