To brush up your writing skills, first you have to read. Read novels, editorials in newspapers, blogs. They will introduce you to new words, different styles of writing. Then slowly you can try composing your own work. Simple things such as the description of a place which you visited lately. It should be in your own words. When you are reading any novel or article, as soon as you encounter any new word check the meaning, the synonym and also how it used in sentences. In this manner you can improve your writing skills, language, vocabulary as well as reading skills.
