A mouse in the house....

....and I don't mean Micky Mouse although I wish it was him!
I am an early riser. While I was enjoying a cup of coffee at 5:30 am I was also watching the news with the TV on the lowest sound setting. I heard a noise coming from the direction of the bedroom. I 'assumed' it was Ruby's paws tapping on the hardwood floor in her sleep. Wrong.
The noise wasn't real loud, but it was loud enough to worry me. The noise eventually made it directly over my head and it continued across the ceiling toward the guest room. I went into that area of the house but didn't hear anything.
When my husband got up I told him and he said it's probably a mouse. How it got up in the attic is anyone's guess. All was quite until a short time ago and I heard it again, back at the same spot where I originally heard it.
My husband has never been in the attic - the only way in is through one of those small doors in the ceiling and I doubt he would fit! But we have been told that the space is heavily insulated. So Mr. Mouse I hope you choke on the insulation or freeze to death when the temps drop into the 20's in a few days.
Until then, I'll just keep an ear to the ceiling and pray our visitor commits suicide.

Oh sure, then she would step on the sheet rock and wind up in the living room Ha Ha, not a good plan at all.

@AbbyGreenhill Not, it does not sound to be a good plan. Leave the mouse in the attic.

I have never been in the attic either. My dad has, you have to literally climb up and I heard it's really hot (but now it's cool so it's okay). I am afraid of heights so wouldn't dare!
I hope your visitor leaves or will suffer!!

He has been quiet the rest of the day. Maybe he's out shopping!

Because we live in the country, we struggle with mice. They can get in very small spaces.

Mice can get into the smallest openings, I think I heard they have collapsible spines or something like that so they can squeeze in anywhere.

@fishtiger58 That's what my husband keeps saying. We had several in the basement in a previous home. They got into the Christmas decorations - ate cardboard boxes, heck they ate a bar of Ivory soap!

mouse are really annoying, at this very time here in my country it's already 2:30 am. I cant go back to sleep because earlier when i go to bed i heard noise just right beside my bed, where a pile of old stuffs are kept, a mouse which i think gave birth coz i heard quirks of little rats,

@AbbyGreenhill as long as they didnt destroy our clothes, sooner they will leave the house with the help of cats, the ultimate exterminators,

Oh my, at least mine are not in the room with me. Good luck - you might need an exterminator.

Mice are sneaky. That has happened to us before and my husband set out those mice pellets that once they eat them, they go off and die because it is poison , and you would be surprised how that little tin of open pellets will just become an empty little tin bowl sitting there. They really do eat it. We will set it in a small area in our laundry room.

This guy is up in the attic that we can't get into. He will starve up there and the result will be the same I guess.

No thanks...we're not cat people. I had one any years ago and I'm still not sure why I did.

I used to get squirrels up in my attic, and they were the noisiest little critters! I finally had to hire an exterminator to get them all out, and then a contractor to come in and seal every possible opening in our roof. That did the trick in keeping the critters out!

We don't have any squirrels thank goodness...no trees anywhere near the house...so we know we don't have one of them in the attic. They can make quite a mess.

Cats do their job that's for sure...but eve if we had a cat it wouldn't help in this situation.

I am not afraid of a mouse. It can drive me crazy and crazy people do crazy things. It will never find its way out - he is doomed.
