Where I've Been

I am sorry for dropping out for so long. I hope to actually finish this post before my computer does something I will regret.
The other day I did try to myLot, but Windows conspires against me. It all crashed before I could hit "Start Discussion".
Basically, Windows 7 detected that it was in a different computer (because I had switched the hard drives) and spends most of its time warning me that my copy of Windows isn't genuine even though it is. Perfectly legal, all paid for. On one computer only. Just happens to be a different computer than the one the hard drive was in when Win 7 was installed.
Between the constant warning alerts, the black screen and the persistent insults as Windows intimates that I am a thief, I have felt less inclined to spend much time on my computer. Windows will still run, will even still update - but it's a little depressing at the moment.
Add to that the fact that some of the RAM is missing from this computer and I can't figure out why I took it out and where I put it, leaving me with some really low available memory, and computing anything is far too slow.
I am going to upgrade the memory in this machine, but since upgrading the memory is also a trigger for the "Windows detects a change in hardware that requires that you activate Windows again" crappola, there's no point in working to solve that problem. Seems the problem might have a solution, but I am going to need some more info before I call Microsoft.
Anyway, I will be back soon or soon-ish. In the meantime I am trying to sort out other things. It's really hard to myLot from here and I need a new charger for my tablet, so I am spending less time online than I have in a decade.
Real life is actually a little boring. Sigh.

After Windows XP it is sort of hard to swap out HDD without reactivating them again. Even in Windows XP you had to activate the copy again. All you basically need to do is get all your drives put back in and go to activation. Then the program will activate again. All set and you're ready to go.

The activation online won't work and my brother seems to think his license as for one machine without exception. I am not convinced, but I am not ready to go through the phone rigmarole until I get the machine upgraded. I may just revert to XP.

@topffer In cases such as yours this can be a problem with a pirated version of the OS. I have had to install new mother boards in computers and this disrupts the activation. However, I just go online and activate it again with the material and it works fine. Going all the way back to XP doesn't seem like a good choice to me considering they don't support it anymore. I would try to find a legal copy of windows 7 and try this to load your computer again.

We all have reasons to stay away and that should not strain you in any way. Do get back when you are ready.
