Why don't men wear skirts?

I have wondered about this before as to why men can't wear skirts. But I haven't asked this to anyone or at least came up with any supposed reason. If women wear skirts AND shorts like no problem, what makes men not do the same? It's not that I'm proposing it but I just want to hear your opinions about it.
I'm no expert in fashion to give critics when a man wears a skirt. But when I see a woman wearing a tux, I just love it. I can see some female celebrities who have worn tux and they absolutely look stunning. While for men, I wonder why can't they look great on a skirt at least.
So far I've seen that in France, boys are wearing skirts at school. I didn't look it up but I will soon. But yes, I would like to know what you think.

i am a man. i personally prefer to wear pants. I still won't wear a skirt even if someone pays me to do it. *+*

lol why not? if you don't mind me asking.. I'm just curious cuz I think there are different reasons for men who will, same goes for men who won't.

im not sure of the historical context i believe women only wore dresses and if they wore pants people had something to say about it. a cultural historian would know more about it
