So many of you here are into photography and take some really amazing photos. I have a little Nikon Coolpix and know that I will have to invest some money into a better camera to take better pictures.
My question is, what camera do you recommend for nature shots for a somewhat beginner that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? That is mostly what I would take pictures of, although I do take pictures of my grandchildren and dogs as well. Whenever you try and review information online about cameras, it just confuses me.
I would really appreciated any kind of input you may have.

@simone10 But still it would be good to have a point and shoot camera.

I have a Nikon Coolpix as well and a Canon Sureshot. But my New Canon Rebel 5 can do so much more.

i've a canon rebel xt that the hubs got me some years back ('fter he broke mine...) 'n then did some work fer a fella who bought me a great zoom lens ('least it t'weren't a calf 'r pup...usually what folks give to me'n lieu 'f payment). i'd really like a macro lens fer those close-ups 'f insects, flowers 'n such, but refuse to pay $350 fer the dang thingy...
that bein' said, there's many great lil cameras out there. the higher the megapixels the better quality pic. i reckon depends'n exactly what'cher lookin' fer? i thought those lil coolpix thingies did purty good? i've no personal 'xperience with 'em, jest what i've heard.

@simone10 I have a very slim Casio Exilim that has a lens that has a lens that comes out and you can zoom in and out shots. It works quite well for me It does not cost too much.

We have a Sony Cybershot with 10x zoom. It is a very awesome camera, but can be a little above the low price range. The pics however don't pixelate.

All I have is a little Nikon myself. I think it's a great camera but I am not that big into photography.

I am a loyal canon user mainly because of its durability. For pro shots I own Canon EOS 600D. I'm not a professional but the i am happy with outdoor shots, I can't say the same with the night shots though. For underwater shots I still have my Canon D10. I have it for 5 years already, not as crisp as I wanted it but it does the job!
