I am relieved and pleased to report that the stolen article I spoke about in my post
http://www.mylot.com/post/2879868/stolen-article
has been removed from the offending site. I have to thank all my friends at Mylot for their advice and suggestions and support and especially @yukimori who did some great detective work to provide me with information that allowed me to contact the website owner.
I had also filed a DMCA complaint and let the the site that I was going to publish it on, know that it was stolen. It was that site that contacted me to let me know that my stolen article was removed and that I was free to publish it. Just goes to show that when these crooks steal your work, don't be afraid to act as you never know what the result would be.

I think I have missed this one in my absence. I did give some great info to another member who had a lot of his stuff stolen. I am glad this one worked out and they removed your article. I think that people need to think twice before doing this.

@Freelanzer Found the article of theirs and here is the link. You can read all the advice on there. Hope it will help you out.
I've been active on online sites for fifteen years. I don't know how many posts I've written during this time. Some sites allow to reuse old posts. That...

I'm very glad to hear that you were successful. I'm sure that the offending site has many more stolen articles besides yours. Unfortunately, many writers either don't know what to do about it or, maybe, don't care enough to take the trouble to take the action you did.

I am sure they do have stolen content since there is a lot of content there and no indication that there are contributors. If I hadn't tried to publish the article, I wouldn't have known either. Now I have to check all my articles before I republish them to make sure

Well done.
One of the great troubles with Internet publishing are those that will infringe the rights of others. I am a moderator on another writing site and have to say that over the years I have rejected so many that think they can get away with copying other people's work and we have even banned them from the site if they fail to learn.

@Freelanzer The trouble is they will do exactly the same again, even if they are banned from a site.

I wish there was a way to publicly shame or blacklist them so they never do it again

Happy to hear that you could take it down. It would be helpful if you could post a article about how to go about dmca complaint for all those who dont know how. Thanks.

If you check the original article there are lots of helpful comments about reporting and a link to making a DMCA complaint.
There is also a helpful link to an article in this post from @poehere
It is very disturbing when you find that your work is stolen and published somewhere else. I had a published article on the now defunct Helium which was removed...

They expect to get away with it so it is nice when they don't

@Freelanzer ...They must think we article writers are stupid or don't care about our work.

I think it is up to us to be vigilant and report and follow through when these things happen.

Not sure what worked. I did sent the website owner an email asking him/her to remove it or I will take legal action, so that may have been what worked.

@Freelanzer nah, they didn't pay. 'course i didn't ask fer such. it finally came down to me ruinin' their name since 'twas a quarter horse publication 'n they was claimin' my boy to be one. e'en though the 'foundin' fathers' 'f the quarter horse world came from mustang mares - those kinda folks jest shiver't the thought'f their beloved, inbred papered ponies bein' linked'n with mustangs.

Congrats on getting the stolen article taken down. I've been down that route many times now, and the problem is that even when you are successful with one thief, or ten, there always seems to be a hundred more waiting to be brought to light.
