Where Are All the 206 Followers Hiding?

Something struck me odd today on the site. I have been here just over 3 months and have a nice following built up. But what I don’t understand is where all these people are? I don’t see them post, comment, or interact on the site.
Normally I see just about the same people write discussion daily and the same people respond to all of these discussions. The most responses I have ever seen on one discussion were around 74. This was on a discussion that Admin started on the site?
So what happened to them all? Are these people still active on the site? I can see that some of them have a very low interaction rate while others are higher. Do you ever wonder where or how many people actually come to this site?
I just scanned through the list of people following me. I see on some accounts that people follower over 350+ members. I have never once seen this many active members on this site.
How many active members do you think actually come here often, write, interact, and participate on this site. My guess is around 50 to 60. But at times I see way less than this. In all I would say I see around 35 really active members who are here almost daily on the site. These members are always writing, commenting, and responding to discussions. I follow them and love to read what has been written. As for the others I don’t see much activity from them at all. Am I wrong or have you noticed this too? What is your guess about how many people come here often to work on this site?
Do you ever wonder where are the people are hiding on the site and why we can't find them?

Your choice of pictures for the discussion is perfect-well done!
In regards to your conclusions regarding the numbers of members, I agree with you. I know that there are some that just come on the site to make an "appearance" every so often, and that is too bad. But the ones that I know that do this really do a lot the few days here and there that they are on the site.

Thanks for my image. I do like to find images that will prove a point or make a person laugh. I thought this one was so cute and had to use it. I was thinking of another one but then it wouldn't prove hiding.
Yes I basically only see the same people here all the time and it is strange to see a lot of others on here. Normally we have a gathering of around 30 to 50 people daily on the site and not many of the other 450 tio 600 or how ever many people show up on the site. this seems very strange to see this one. I can see at one time they were active. Well guess life, work, and other things has taken them away for a time being. It would be nice to see some of them come back again.

@poehere I think its like anything else, some people start out with good intentions and set up an account and then they get busy doing other things and their time spent on the site here gets shorter and less until we are discussing them like this. I belong to a site that does surveys and there is a social side to, I rarely go on it, a couple of times a week. I feel bad because they have "regulars" on that site too which will attempt to interact with me, but when I'm only there a couple of times a week it just doesn't happen.

Long back, on the earlier Mylot we had a counter that did reflect how many people had signed up. However there was no known way to ascertain how many of them were active - except one - go to their individual profiles and find out when they had last logged in. However, this too was not a sure shot answer to if they had simply logged in and left it open or were doing other things (we had post pictures and tasks too, back then).
I think not more than 200 people are active on any given day. Just a wild guess as of now because the sections - people and explore - and even followers - are not working as they should have.
As for wondering asto why are people hiding or not responding, well, I know only a few people and I do get worried when they do not show up. I have been in touch with a few off-MyLot and so I know that they are doing good, maybe busy with their real life and world. But for others, I have no idea but to be sad and worried.

@poehere Most of the forums on which I have been, work on PHP and have a lot of scripts available (maybe because of that). Havent been on ASP (or its .NET version) forums - so I am unsure of how they work and what stats they offer to their visitors. But yes, they all should have this stats available to all the visitors.
MyLot has been built upon ASP (or .NET) and MS SQL Server, maybe because of the need to have so much of security and being data centric (Content here is much more than many of the forums of past few years). As they had the total number of signups thing available, somewhere I do feel that they also have the stats with them. They just do not want to make it known (for obvious reasons) to their users or others.

The only reason that I thought of this is how we determine how many people are on certain forums I moderate and participate on. You can see how many active members are online and how many visitors there are. I was just wondering on a place like this why not do the same. But it is also not the same format and more than likely not the same way of doing things.

I do wonder at times where everyone is. If I had to guess I would say around 100 people are active here-on busy days.

I am not active on the face book site but recently looked at a movie star page and noticed that although the numbers are high I didn't find a lot of quality interaction there either. Only mention this because I think it shows a trend. People write simple little things and then move on to the next blurb. I see activity the numbers show it but what is the norm is interaction which is shallow for the masses?

On FB I feel people just like other stuff for the sake of liking. I see a popular page and like you say nothing at all on it. They liked it because others did too or because of who the person is.
I guess on here people come and see they get paid from this site. When they realize it takes time, work, and commencement to earn on here they leave. Most people look for places they can earn more than 10 bucks a month on. Thinking like this and seeing how much time they invest makes it a non worthwhile site for them to work on.

I just weeded out my followers - there were over 100 who were inactive. I'd love to know how many people are active on the site too, but I would have thought there were more than your guess. (By the way - several of my discussions have over 80 responses)

I do look at all recent, new, and also no responses. I think the reason I don't see more now is because of my time zone. I was explained this one here from another person. They said that we only get to see the last few hours. If we don't look quickly too many new posts are added. Then the others are lost in the shuffle. So I guess we only get to view a handful of posts when we search on here and at this time it is basically the ones from people we see on here daily. Or the ones we see in our time zone daily.

I know I have signed up on lots of sites in the past and that is all I have done. I suspect it is the same here. I guess your missing people are hiding out with my 1.7K followers. If they were remotely active I would be well off. Some of mine have passed away and some have not gotten the word to come on back.

@poehere Remember, I was here for nine years. @PhredWreck or whoever he is would have more connections but he keeps deleting his account and becoming someone new. Statistics used to be kept differently here and at the time myLot had its changeover to non paying @Hatley was the top user and I was second. Like I said, we do have that one friend who keeps changing his identity. I think he would have more connections and a higher count ( ) if he did not.

@GardenGerty That is funny. i guess after that long you would attract a lot of people to follow you. I was told he doesn't delete his account he only changes his name. So if you wanted you could change GardenGerty to something else and your @GardenGerty would always remain the same. That is what he told me how it works. Not sure I have never done this one and just leave mine the same. I think it is too confusing to people and they don't know who you are if you keep doing this one.

I think that a lot of people come on anew site and add a lot of people on their friend's list and go else where. Like it is a game to see who can get the most.

I have wondered the same thing too, as I have a lot of followers, and I don't see them in here either/ I think it might be, that they are here for a bit, and find out it isn't what they thought it was, so theyup and leave, and it is a shame too. I think that happens to a lot of sites, as there is a lot of turnover so to speak. I certainly have way to many to delete mine, and so I just hope that more will decide to come in here and start posting and interacting like they should.

@poehere It would take me a long time to go through all my friends as I have so many of them. I don't know how many come in here, but it is doubtful that to many do, as usual. It is a shame when others come in here and maybe post a disucssion or two, and do nothing else, and yet they want to follow us. I follow everyone that follows me, hoping that they will interact like they should.

I have been a member of myLot for over 6 years and have yet to see my following list. I have to admit I did leave myLot and just returned mid November. I think many join and find earnings take longer compared to other sites then give up!

@infatuatedbby I like the idea that we can share our opinions and experiences to help others. this makes it more fun than worrying about money and earnings here on the site. If I had to do this one I know I would of left a long time back.

Seriously, I will start focusing more on this site, once I accomplish a payout from another writing site I am on at the moment. I am almost there at the other site but not quite yet. I do like this site.

@poehere Really, this site pays more than the other site I am working on. But, since I have put so much work into the other site, I must do it for the payout, otherwise, I would have wasted a lot of time.

@LeaPea2417 Yes I can understand this one. Well anyhow good luck on this and hope you can reach your payout soon. Hope you will find something better to work on that isn't as time consuming as the site you are on now.

@poehere I know sometimes some people lose internet and that is why they don't come on for a long time. Our neighbor used to use one of the sites like this one and for like 6 months she didn't have internet to be able to go and do anything on the site but there are some who as you said just left haven't deleted stuff. I have seen some where they have lots of interaction and no posts. drives me nuts.

Yes this one can happen. I just think a lot of the people have left and don't delete their account. I think if you leave a site and don't want to work on it then delete your account. I know a few people don't even have activity on their accounts so why not delete them.

@Drosophila Sounds like a plan. I would give them a few more weeks and then do this. They could be rather busy like I was. Maybe they are on vacation now. Many people like to go after the holidays when tickets are cheaper.

I have also wondered why there seem to be only so many people and what has happened to the rest of the people who used to interact are they no longer here or are they hiding out someplace else. It does seem like it is the same people day after day responding and not many.

I have noticed some decrease here, but then I was off for around 6 days and it was hard to say one way or the other. I see it fluctuate now and then but lately it seems a little slow and this reflects on people getting back to work after the holidays and getting their lives going again for the new year.

@sofssu It can be hard to find a good place online. Many people will entice you to join one site or another. The reason is they have given you an affiliate link to join them with. So they only care about you because they can earn money from you. That is what I like about here. No affiliate program or links and no need to force people to join here.

I also think a few of them came here. Followed a lot of people, posted 1 post and disappeared. That is sort of how a few of mine look anyhow. I don't see any other activity on their account in a long time. Guess it wasn't want they thought when they did this one. Wonder if they will delete the account sooner or later.
