Have You Ever Watched "Somewhere Street" on NHK?

Not a very sophisticated program, but "Easy Viewing". The program visits a different city in each episode and the camera operator who films using a Steadicam wanders around tourist locations or through back alleys, stopping to look at buildings and interacting with locals. Sometimes they end up in shops, or get invited into people's back gardens. We see everything from 1st person perspective. A narrator, who we never see, describes what they see, dubbed into English and the local's responses are subtitled if they don't speak English. It's sort of a live version of Google Street View.

I don't believe we get that show in the USA, but it sounds interesting.

You can look at full episodes on YouTube. It's kind of funny sometimes when they follow people they find interesting and see what they are up to. I wonder do they ever get mugged when they end up in alleyways away from tourist trails?

Nippon Hoso Kyokai is Japan's national public broadcasting organisation. NHK World is the international version with broadcasts in English. It's available here free on satellite and probably on satellite and cable in the US too.
