I am always seeing all these advertizements to by Life insurance and Term Life insurance. Most are from 50 to 75 which to me is rather asinine. True many people die before 75 but a good many more are living well into their 90's with modern day medicine and technology. Also they say how affordable it is for everyone. Yet when I look at it. It is like Wow seriously you think I can afford $140 a month and my husband $190 a month. Not hardly we get about $1700 a month between the two of us and $610 alone goes to mortgage payment. Then there is the utilities, transportation, auto insurance, groceries, medical and more we rarely have much more than $100 a month left for anything extra including gifts for birthdays etc. Seems all these people do is greed monger you pay into something you likely will get diddly squat back because likely you will live beyond 75. My mom bought into all the term life stuff and she died at 75 and we had to fight to get paid so we could pay for her funeral It was a nightmare. And she paid for her funeral expenses so she thought we had all the certificates etc. But they added an opening and closing fee they did not tell her about and none of us had the funds to pay $500 more to put her urn where she wanted it. Her spot remains empty and they refuse to give the funds she paid back so they stole $1100 from her and the family. I think it is a good idea to have some funds set aside for end of life so your family is not financially burdened. Even cremation is starting to get expensive $995 was charged up front for our friend who passed away 3 weeks ago. His family scraped together robbing Peter to Pay Paul. Social Security pays $255 and has not changed that amount for 20 years. My plan is to by an urn I like for myself and husband and buy a cremation plan and make sure there are no hidden fees. Leave a will to have a memorial in the summer or late spring or early fall when you can have something outdoors in a nice garden setting that is not going to cost an arm and a leg. That is what we did for mom her will to wait until nicer weather to have the memorial. We did all she asked except put her urn where she wanted because the money was not there to open and close so we keep it in a glass shelf it is pretty pink and silver roses. It does not bother us. My daughter kept her son Gerrin's urn too on a special shelf with his favorite toys. It is comforting to us. She said she plan to keep her dad and my urns as well when the time comes. Fine with me. So what do you have life insurance and burial insurance are you sure it is enough do you have a plan. I know morbid topic but reality. I know we can't afford all that expense. I know my children and family can't either. Government regulates things but makes little help to make it affordable for families letting big insurance companies milk people for a very sad and hurtful time. Why do we buy into it all? My plan is going to cost about $2500 for hubby and me. Less intrusive and easier.

I have a life insurance from where I work. But I don't have a personal insurance.
