A Slight Diatribe

Oh dear, so, I am a bore, is that you I hear snore? My topics are mundane? That must really be a pain! I suppose that is truly a shame. Sorry I do not pass muster, for being such a disappointment to you, should I feel a little flustered? I only write about the norm, my topics are not scintillating? That must really be frustrating! There is too much of one topic? Well, it might be important to me, in my own way, you see, I have the right to tell it from my perspective, you could respect it. A free world it is, if you do not like what you read, you can move along, it is fine with me. No need for sarcasm or whining, that only, quite frankly, shows your manners are declining. Not everything one writes will be everyone's cup of tea, I am sure you agree? That is why, many choices out there, there are, you don't have to feel you are trapped behind bars. Peruse what you choose, don't heap on abuse, you yourself might not exactly be someone's muse. So, remember, let us not judge, it will only cause a grudge. Don't you just love it when a topic that is important to you is belittled by someone? I wish people would remember that we all have different tastes, and that what others find boring or repetitive, might be of interest to some. If you do not like someone's discussion that is fine, that is your prerogative, but, just move on from it. No need to belittle it. Right?

Has someone upset you Catherine, or is this hypothetical? This is a great poem, why didn't you set it out as such? Anyway, I completely agree with what you say.

Yes, someone has upset me, but, this is for everyone who can relate to what I have written here. I typed and posted this from my smart phone, so could not set it out as a poem, Janet. The spacing looked all odd :-D. Thank you for agreeing @jaboUK .

@bluesa I'm so sorry someone has been unkind Catherine - why are people so hurtful? I can't see how anyone would think your topics boring or mundane - they always entertain me.

@jaboUK , thank you, Janet. I know I will not be everybodys cup of tea, and that really is fine with me, but, they can move on. To tell people that the topic of their choice is not interesting enough is rude, everyone has a different idea about what interesting is.

Well written and very true sentiments. I'm sorry if someone has upset you. I don't know why people can't get along. It's not as if we HAVE to read anything we don't like.

@JudyEv , thanks, I also do not understand why people have to judge, we all have different tastes, that is why there are many options out there, so no need to feel forced to read anything we do not really want to.

Absolutely right, I just don't understand why some people need to be mean. I love reading about your life in South Africa, that is how we learn about the world,

I write for me--this is my diary and doesn't take up one of my closets like the notebooks I have since 1950!!! Really--I always kept a diary/journal.

@GreatMartin , it is awesome you have always kept a Diary/Journal, I used to, but have not in many years. Wonderful that you write for you. I write for me too, to ponder, remember, converse... :-)

You are absolutely correct. People can be spiteful, mean, and cruel, and there is no need for it, especially here. Move on and don't let whoever bothered and upset you. You can vent to those who love you and your discussions. Giant hugs to you, my friend.

Some people like to make fun of others, usually because of their own insecurities, and that's how they deal with it. I really wish more people would look into therapy to deal with those issues, but there is such a stigma attached to mental health issues anymore. I agree-there is no need to belittle someone for their choice of topic; it says more about them, and not the person who wrote it originally.

@bluesa Or perhaps they can't come up with their own original, interesting topic, and opt instead to attack others. Or they're testing the 'survival of the fittest' theory? Or perhaps they're overcompensating for something they are lacking (insert any part of the body here).....

Right! They could tell you it's not their cup of tea, but to say it's not interesting for their tastes is not only rude, but selfish. Maybe your post in question came up on the interesting tab and that is why they're stating that. I found out recently from another member that any tags we use will bring other posts to the interesting tab for us related to the various tags we may use.

@MarshaMusselman , yes, sadly it was rude. I was not aware of that, in regard to tags, thank you for letting know. I will however try to ignore any future rudeness. :-)

@bluesa The person that I learned the correlation between the tags and the interesting tab found a few under that tab that to her weren't interesting at all. I'm sure she would never voice that to the writer. I agree that was rude, but the responder probably didn't understand how it's done and wasn't thinking about how her comment would sound.

I'm sorry that happened to you. You would hope people could be friendly and comment kindly. I have not commented because I had nothing good to say, so you hit it on the head. If you can't say something nice don't say anything.

Lots of things don't interest me and lots do. Why would I need to point that out to anyone else. I am sorry that happened. I haven't noticed comments like that. I have noticed discussions where the poster says they don't like certain types of discussion. I find those posts annoying. I avoid all the posts about how much someone is making here, etc. but I don't post a discussion stating I hate those discussions. I just read something else.

@paigea , yes, exactly, there is so much different discussions to read that there is no need to undermine someones choice of topic. What we do not like we can just move on from and focus on what does appeal to us, like you do. :-)
