The last 31st December I have hit my knee against the corner of the wall, when I have missed a step while going downstairs. As it happened during the Christmas festivity, I decided to wait to see the doctor and see if the pain stopped, but this has not been the case. This morning, my husband had an appointment with his doctor, I went with him and I asked to the doctor to examine my knee. The doctor says I have small injuries in my tendon (tendinitis). It's nothing serious, but I need an ultrasound treatment three times a week. It is possible that for a couple of week, you will not see me around as much as usual. You know the reason, I will try to check your discussions every day.

So sorry to hear you have tendinitis. Thank God it's not serious. You'll be okay soon. Take good care of yourself Tendon injuries heal fast, unlike cartilage injuries which require surgery sometimes.

Yes, tendons do not need surgery and this is a good thing.

@ivyparkgirl Surgery is fully paid by our mandatory insurance, we pay a monthly amount for medical insurance, but all the medical expenses are covered, included the medications.

Hmm, with or without ultrasounds I am afraid that it will hurt during a month or two. I had to stop bicycle during two months when I hurt my knee like you did. It was not painful when I was walking after a week, but it was on the bicycle. I wish you a quicker recovery.

I know it will last for a while. I remember it happened when I hurt a knee falling on the floor several year ago. The knee does not hurt when I walk, but it hurts when I have to climb the stairs... our home is on 3 levels.

@LadyDuck I have 4 levels in my new house, but I occupy only the first and second floors and I don't visit often the upper levels. Comfort yourself by telling you that is better than a fracture...

@topffer Absolutely, a fracture is so much more painful... I remember when I broke my right elbow.

@Marcyaz You are right, you can feel nothing walking, but when moving certain areas of the knee you feel a terrible pain.

It is easily treatable, I have to avoid to walk too much and rest the leg and follow to the treatment for a couple of weeks.

@RasmaSandra For the moment I have to put a cold pack on the knee four to five times a day and follow this treatment. Let's hope that then the knee is back to normal.

@LadyDuck I hope your pain stops and the knee heals. I have had knee problems and I know that for me a big help has been a knee strap or elastic knee band wrapped tight so that there is not so much painful movement.

@Inlemay I always count the steps when I go down early in the morning, I suppose I had a moment of distraction. It was the last day of the year, possibly my mind was planning for the new year's eve party.

@LadyDuck you were probably pre-occupied with something on your mind, it only takes a split second to miss-step

You should not take this issue lightly. I dont know your age, but I think this is something which can become major issue if not taken care of and attended to at the moment. Somewhere, I feel that the pain in my left knee these past years is because of a pebble that had got in when I was a kid. Though doctors have not been able to tell me the reason for the pain, I am pretty much sure that this might be the big reason. Please take care and heal yourself - as that (good health) is more important

@DianneN I do not like too much to wait in the ER and then explain everything to a young doctor who know nothing about my case history. I am sure it's nothing serious, I will rest the leg for some days.

I too have issues with my knee due to a major car accident that I suffered almost 8 years ago. It still hurts me during the cold season. Although I had all my tests and therapy, I still find myself in pain some nights. I hope you get well soon. take care of your leg and try not to stress. God Bless.

@LadyDuck Sorry to hear about your elbow. You must be facing a lot of problem as you need your arms to do everything. The cold affects the bones that is why we go through pain
