Easter Eggs already in stores!

Perth, Australia
January 13, 2016 4:36am CST
I forget which stores they were but my dad was just telling me how Easter Eggs are already on sale. Like dude, we literally just got over Christmas and it isn't even time for Easter yet! I don't understand why they have to be put on shelves already! As if we are going to buy Chocolate to put aside for Easter now because one of two things can happen when buying them too early. 1: If you are experiencing a hot summer like we are at the moment then there's a great chance they will melt. OR 2: If you are like me, buying chocolate for someone and putting it aside until the next time you see them is not an easy task so walking by that chocolate every day with it just looking at you, then there's also a high chance it will get eaten. So what gives? Why are they on shelves already?

Chocolate looks at you? *oh wait* I guess it does (easter bunny choccy). Pretty sure I saw some valentine's day candy parked in the stock room. That is something we don't have to deal with (holiday displays).

Chocolate not just looks at you, they talk too. They call out your name beckoning you over to come and eat them. How could you not know that? BLASPHEMY, I tell you.

I just commented on this to my local newsagent and the manager agreed but pleaded that he doesn't have any control over what he is told to display! What? A shop manager can't arrange his shop in a sensible and meaningful way? (It isn't as if this shop is a big national supermarket chain, it's just a small, local newsagent which is a member of a group). Anyway, if we are talking about commercial festivals, the next one is Valentine's day, surely!

Well that's what I was thinking. Valentines Day stuff is still a bit too early to put up but it would make more sense to put all that crap up first.

I haven't seen Easter Candy yet, just Valentine's Day chocolates.

@VivaLaDani13 The candy is manufactured probably months ago - so not putting it on the shelves won't make it be any fresher.

Just my personal opinion, I feel that is also a bit too early. I mean food wise. I feel the food would be more fresh if people bought it closer to the date. We are still in January so I don't know. Guess their marketing is different to how I would do it lol

@JudyEv Hot Cross Buns are available all year around in Tesco supermarkets and probably others, over here... seasons have no meaning nor treats to look forward to any more...our lives are governed by the Retail trade...

@VivaLaDani13 I'm not sure either. I guess they think hot cross buns are an extra special Easter item. I never buy them as I don't like them either.

I did read something about that happening and apparently people are annoyed about it. I don't know how to feel about it. I don't even eat hot cross buns lol So I don't know if people are annoyed for a religious reason like I literally have no idea why people are mad.

HAHA! yeah exactly. Things are much better when you're a child. I am right there with you on the diet thing but I also have trouble eating chocolate sometimes because it can hurt my teeth sometimes. Noooooooo!

Things people do to increase their sales. You are right its too early. What the heck are they thinking? Personally, I think they have their calendars messed up. Poor folks, I can't help them from here. Maybe you can help them sort their *ahem* out.

Stores always like to hurry holidays so they could make more money, it's no surprise now that Christmas items are already available on September, the earlier they get people on a buying spree, the better for their pockets, nothing wrong with that cause like everyone else they are in the business of making money.

That's true but I just don't understand how you can do that with chocolate? I mean if it is a toy bunny then fine but chocolate? If I bought some now to get ready to Easter, it would have melted before the actual day....or eaten lol

What else is new? There is tons of competition for the buyer's money.

It could be their marketing strategy, putting Easter eggs soooo early so people will remember where to buy when Easter comes! ha ha ha!
