In my neck of the woods we buy our electric from a co-op, which gets it from the TVA (Tennessee Valley Authority). Therefore, we are members of the co-op, not just customers. It also means we have cheap electric rates compared to other parts of the state and the country.
They send a newsletter each month with the bill. It usually contains some interesting things and recently they gave a website where you could get an online energy evaluation. I did the evaluation and at the end it gave suggestions on how to make our home more energy efficient (it's pretty darn good as it is).
A week or so ago I received a package in the mail. It was a 'thank you' for taking the survey. It contained things like insulation you put behind your wall outlets and switches to stop drafts, two energy efficient light bulbs, water saver gadgets for faucets and a $10 gift card to Home Depot.
We don't have a Home Depot near us, but when we went to the doctor in a town an hour away yesterday they have one and it was on our route. So we stopped in and decided to buy batteries - or I should say get 'free' batteries.
They had one brand of batteries on sale for $9.97 for a pack of 20. Hum, not bad. Of course we had to pay tax, so we got 20 AA batteries for a total cost of 94 cents. Thanks Volunteer Electric, now we're charged up thanks to you!

That was one good deal. I'm always out of batteries when I need one. But now I use rechargeable.

We did the rechargeable thing years ago - they stop holding a charge after a while.
Threw them out and went back to this kind.

@PainsOnSlate I used to use a lot of them in my digital camera, but the camera I have doesn't use that type...my old mouse used 1 every few weeks, my new mouse goes months w/o a new battery, so we don't really use as may as we did a few years ago.

I love batteries (because my flashlights needs them LOL) and I would be delighted to receive some coupons or batteries for free! LED bulbs works for me as well, before our house was burned down last month, I replaced all 7 bulbs in the house with LED, very bright and energy saver as well.

You put them on your kit/bath faucets to slow the flow down, use less water.

@AbbyGreenhill ah I see, I tend to just not turn the water on all the way. We already have a version of one for our shower, it cuts down water use while upping the pressure of the flow, like putting a thumb over the end of the garden hose to make what comes out shoot further, lol
