Someone in Tennessee is very rich today, not me but that's OK

One of the three winning tickets was purchased in Tennessee. Nowhere near me, the opposite end of the state. But it was nice to hear and see the word Tennessee on TV this morning indicating a winning ticket. Tennessee is fairly new to the lottery business. When we moved here in 2001 there was no lottery. It didn't start until I believe in the summer of 2003 or maybe 2004. The day tickets went on sale I bought some. I kept a few for me, but I also mailed some to our family in New Jersey. None of us won, but it was the thrill of being in on the very first lottery in Tennessee. We are, you know, the Buckle of the Bible Belt. Gambling is a no-no. I couldn't believe I moved to a state that had no money bingo games...what do the churches do to make money if they don't have bingo? I miss playing bingo. We have no casinos, but there are a few very close in North Carolina and some south of the state and to the west etc. You get the picture. We're surrounded by the availability to gamble our money away just by driving an few hours. I am not a gambler, but I did buy two tickets for yesterday's drawing. I had two numbers, that's two more than I had on the tickets for the previous drawing...in my book that makes me a winner!

I have often wanted to visit Tennessee but I couldn't live there. Happen here in Idaho. Nice that someone that can use it got that big sum. Some in Florida won too and in Chino, California.

Most people let the computer pick the numbers. I believe they say 70 percent of winners let the computer pick.

I heard someone won the Lottery, I thought though it was one person. So three people split the large prize? Is that how it works? I've never gotten a lottery ticket.

Oh bummer, I was about to check my Powerball ticket this morning! Good to know I didn't wake up a billionaire either. I normally don't do this kind of gambling either - but hey, it was only $2. Realistically though, who needs THAT much money? (I'd settle for one mill)

Yes, I heard 3 winners in 3 States. I bought my first ever power ball ticket yesterday. I thought "why not" since I had never bought one before.

@AbbyGreenhill Yes, ha ha. I usually don't play the lottery because I don't want to spend the money. I will enter the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes because they say you don't have to buy anything to enter. The only thing I pay for with that is the price of the stamp to send in the confirmation form.

@LeaPea2417 I gave up on PCH, it's one after another after another for years and years. You can do it online you don't have to do the mail in...save a stamp. One just came in the mail today - its in the trash now.

Here, we cannot buy Powerball tickets, we have a local lottery (called Euro Millions), this week it reached 88 Millions, it's not too bad, I have a 10$ coupon, I am going to buy a ticket online.

It's good to hear someone in your state won the lottery. Hope you'll be the winner next time. I don't know why I am just not interested in lottery, perhaps I always think I won't be able to win, so with this mindset, it's better not to buy the tickets.

That is interesting the lotto was relatively new to your state!! Someone won from my state also about 2-3 miles away from me. The news showed that many crowded at the location, a 7-11. I don't know how safe it is. I would hide and seek a trusty lawyer!

They showed that on the new, the 7/11 owner was happy too.
