Worst Programming on Television

I know I'm going to step on a lot of toes when I say that the worst programming on television is Anime. I don't watch it, but since my older son moved in a couple weeks ago I've listened to a lot of it. And of all the different types of programs out there none is worse than the infantile dialogue and language I've heard coming from the characters in the numerous programs my son watches and is even now watching as I'm writing this. It's no wonder kids think they can sass their parents and talk as they do when they listen to this garbage all day long. Even the adult characters in these shows show no more maturity than a juvenile delinquent. Depending on the Anime he's watching will determine how much if any swearing is done between the characters. However, the bullying, back talking, and putting a person down for one reason or another is enough for me to say this is something that should never have found its way onto our television sets. Especially when organizations are trying to find an end to bullying. There will never be an end to it as long as Anime exists. This is of course my opinion based on what I'm hearing. Thanks for reading.

It is not only Anime, but a lot of programming on certain networks that are popular such as "The Simpsons" which is contributing to some of the problems we are seeing

I don't watch Simpson's either - it's just bad television.

@sugartoes Those court shows drive me nuts with all the whining going on by the accuser. I'm sure you can learn something about the laws from it, but it drives me crazy so I don't watch it. I don't watch any talk shows.

@sugartoes From what I've seen of them, and sometimes without choice in the matter, the defendant deserved what they got.

@just4him that would not be hard, I think it's like walking on the beach and finding a sand dollar they do exist, but there is a lot of sand to go through to find it

@Jessicalynnt I don't know. I had a few sand dollars back when I lived in San Diego. They weren't hard to find. As for good Anime, that might be hard to find.

I find the whole concept of bad language on television to be unacceptable, yet somehow the producers seem to find it essential these days. To begin to introduce the same into children's shows is completely outrageous.

Yes it is, especially when bullying is such a problem already, they don't need to emphasize it and make it worse by seeming to be acceptable as children view anything they see on television as acceptable behavior.

I agree, our young generations have enough problems without teaching them bad words and to bully others.

I'd hate Anime too if that's all I'd seen. One thing I'd like to say though, is there are very many kinds of anime. Just like in American TV- you can't judge The Disovery Channel by watching Nickelodeon and Cinemax. Personally, I love the Anime made for thoughtful, intelligent adults. Like Rescue Wings - which is about an Air Defense Force rescue squadron. Awesome! No cussing either. I watch Science Fiction anime too, like Appleseed, Ghost in the Shell, and Space Battleship Yamato. Wonderful stuff. It sounds like he's been watching the crap imported for American audiences though. I don't usually watch that - just things that have been subtitled by fans.

anime is a genre rather than a specific programme - there is some good anime animation but a lot of dross too

Good anime is to bad anime AS good rap music is to bad rap music. How you feel about anime, I sort of feel like that when it comes to rap music.

@just4him - LOL. The background music is very good! But I understood her words and they made no sense! Especially when the man from Mars stopped eating cars and started eating guitars. You didn't miss out on anything profound that would change the world! It's kind of how I feel about certain rap lyrics. Eh! I'm not missing anything. What I really detest about the rap music industry is, in addition to the lyrics, the "garbage" that is a part of it "behind the scenes". I'm not using a blanket to cover every artist in the industry. But the ones who do and deal in "garbage" know who I'm talking about. It's not something they like to publicly discuss. That's why "they" got really angry when one of their hip hop mamas wrote a tell all book and published it. I can't say much about anime other than I like a lot of the art work. Anime is something my kids know about because they watch a lot of it. I have watched some and if it has a catchy story line I might follow it through. But I'm not really into anime (or manga) at all, other than the artwork.

I didn't know there was good rap music. Sorry, not trying to be stupid, but I don't enjoy it at all.

I have never watched it, but I will tell you on one of those satellite dish channels, my husband and I were surfing the channels one night real late, and one of those Anime shows was on and I am not joking, but I couldn't believe my eyes, it was an x rated Anime playing! I quickly changed the channel and thought "how revolting"!

It is! My son thankfully doesn't watch x-rated shows, though I probably have it blocked so nobody can watch that kind of programming.

I can honestly say I've never watched an entire episode of this although I did stop on the channel for a few minutes to see what it was all about. And the only reason I did that was because some of our nieces and nephews are into them and I was curious about it. I feel the same as you do and I hate that I can't get those minutes back that I wasted watching.

Anime is only a medium to tell stories, there are tons of anime series which are about love and every day struggles and Iam even watching one currently about breaking down social walls based on appearances and preconceptions. You shouldn't put sown a entire art form just because your son watches what you don't approve of.

I don't even watch those kind of shows anyway, as you are right, that the language is a lot to be desired. From what I have seen from other tv shows, some of them have bad language too, among other things that aren't fit to look at. It is so hard to find anything decent on tv anymore, and that is so sad too. When I can't find anything good on, then I just shut it off, and watch Netflix on my computer.
