Discussion In The Wind: Now You See It, Now You Don't

It takes work to maintain a discussion in the real world and on myLot. Sometimes everyone agrees, but at other times folks present opposing viewpoints.
Hopefully, on myLot, most people are mature enough to interact with each other in a civil manner. Sometimes someone crosses the line and then the myLot community and/or the myLot administrative team needs to handle the individual with care.
Do you enjoy when you take time to interact on a discussion and then without warning, the individual who started the discussion, hits the delete button for the discussion? Then with a poof it's gone like a discussion in the wind and all that is left is the memory.

that is true but when a discussion goes at certain times you can be relatively sure it's been deleted by the starter.

@jaboUK sometimes you don't, but sometimes the admin or the poster admits it or answers if asked. When it's not clear, one has to rely on intuition.

My position on deleting is pretty clearI don't like it and wouldn't ever do it to someone else although I have to admit i've deleted 3 comments I've made in someones discussion.
That being said it's a feature of the site and everyone is free to use the features as they see fit.
I don't like it when discussions are removed but can also see that for various reasons it maybe is a good thing.
So, in short, I'd not really agree with it but sort of do in some circumstances

@Mike197602 I'm not a fan of the deletion option, barring certain circumstances.

It could be Admin that could delete a discussion. I really do not know why a discussion would be deleted by the initiator.

@HanVanMeegerin In that case an explanation would be a good thing.

@allknowing the initiator could delete it for a multitude of reasons. Some are justifiable and some are not.

@HanVanMeegerin Come to think of it I did have a post deleted. It was done by admin. I hadn't followed the rules on that particular post. It was a lesson learned.

@just4him Unless their is a compelling reason for the deletion, I find it annoying. Fortunately, it hasn't happened much.

I haven't seen a discussion magically disappear. I have left comments that the recipient clearly did not comprehend my answer.

@Morleyhunt it's not magic. Sometimes administration needs to delete a discussion. However, individual users can delete their discussions with the touch of the delete button.
Maybe @EddyHands can use a ouija board to delete discussions too.

@HanVanMeegerin If there was a debate I'd be even more likely to leave it there!

@paigea me too whether it's a win, lose or draw. Some people though can't handle it if they sre not in full control.

@paigea it doesn't happen often. Sometimes there are legitimate reasons for it. I just get annoyed when someone does it, because they have lost a debate.

I don't think I have ever noticed a discussion being deleted.

If someone deletes a conversation or leaves it that is their decision. If they become augmentative or they most always have the last word then I will eventually just not enter discussions with them again. I am an adult and don't need the school principal to discipline me.
I had that problem with 2 people here and I just stopped communicating with them--one in the past 2 days.

That never happened to me as of yet.......But I would be very annoyed if it did happen...
