The NTSB (National Transportation and Safety Board) is trying to lower the legal limit from .08 to .05 nationally in the United States. This is mostly due to the fact that 1/3 of all driving accidents over the last 15 years has increased due to drunk driving. Most countries already have the .05 limitation. Even someone at 200 pounds who has 2 or more drinks within 1 hour that 'thinks' they are fine, they are not. It doesn't matter your size or type of alcohol being drank, the alcohol content is the same in the blood stream. What a lot of people don't realize either is that it takes 12 hours for a single ounce of alcohol to leave the body; regardless of whether you eat something. MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) state that it will probably be helpful to lower the legal limit but unless people use common sense, it won't stop the problem. Their main suggestion is this: If you plan on going out drinking, make sure you have a way home. Family, friends, taxi, bus; something other than getting behind the wheel of your own vehicle because in the end, is it worth it to drink and drive and possibly kill yourself, passengers or someone else innocent on the road. alcohol, law, safety
