Why Many Filipinos Thought That Philippines is Matriarchal? The Philippines is Obviously Patriarcal. The reason why I said that Philippines is patriarchal because.......... #1. The father is *the head of the family*. The family social structure is obviously patriarchal. #2. The women's virginity is important in Philippine culture. #3. Men are *predominant in sex*. #4. Men are *prestige in economy* and many people want women to be *less personality*. #5. Filipinos believe that men are *cool* while women are *sl_t* in having many *sexual partners*. #6. Many men are chauvinist in Philippines. #7. Many men do not want to work in *household chores*. #8. Traditionally, courting exists in Philippines and always done by men. #9. Philippines is a Christian country and I heard that Philippines is religious, and conservative country. Filipinos believe God which is the Father in heaven equivalent to male characteristic. #10. Men and women have *fixed patriarchal mindset* especially to women. It is because many women still believe that they are only *second* to men. I don't get it. I read some article online that Philippines is matriarchal? Huh?

I think it has something to do with the fact that our country have more opportunities for women when it comes to available jobs. Philippines is Matrichal during pre-colonial times though, Everything is decided by Babaylans

I do the household chores too but I think not all men want to do a household chores. Some men feel threaten if men do a household chores because it is not men’s job. Most men are leader in politics and most women are leader in household chores. Many Filipinos think men are prestige in politics, science and technology rather than women to be prestige in household chores. So it is a reason why some women feel that working outside home is good rather than to be a housewife. Women still see men as most important and most influential in our society. Still men are prestige rather than women to be called prestige in household chores. Even if some women choose to do a household chores, they think and feel that doing a household chores is like a slave. It is no doubt why some men do not want to stay at home to do a job. They really do feel threaten. Some women knew from the beginning that doing a job at home feel like a slave while men feel they are so important because they are providing the needs of the family. There are really some men who do not want to do a household chores. Men do not ask about rights to stay at home and do a household chores. Women are looking for rights to be equal in men especially in politics. Of course, men are also threaten if they are called househusband.
