This is the first of three features on dangerous games I have taken part in over the years. These games were not quite as deadly as Russian Roulette but they could get painful. This one dates back to my youth.
British Bulldog is a chase game where one person has to try to catch someone from among twenty people trying to get past him between two fixed points, i.e., two walls or poles. If he catches someone the two of them then team up to capture more people, so the people left uncaught become a dwindling minority while the number of chasers grow like a pack of zombies. To catch someone you have to lift them completely off the ground and they can do anything to avoid capture or being picked up. This can therefore get quite rough for chasers and the pursued alike.

I can remember this from primary school. I believe most schools banned it in the eighties, or thereabouts. Weren't there some serious injuries because of it?!

very probably - I got a few bruises and a few serious fights with poor losers from it

the people pulling the ropes were not tied in as we were - we were stretched from left and right without lifting to do ourselves

if once was small this might not be dangerous, but I can see it being quite dangerous as one gets bigger and stronger, although the base concept sounds fun
