Do you MyLotters like French Onion Soup?

I avoided onions of any kind most of my life. My wife has me convinced that cooked sweet onions are good and now I even use them liberally when I cook. I still don't like raw onions, but I know she sneaks some in to things.
Now she is lobbying for me eat French Onion soup. I did try that once, long ago and disliked it. I am pretty sure that whatever she cooks will be good, so will probably agree to try it.
But, the whole idea of soup based on onions sounds unappetizing to me. So, I wondered, does onion soup get a thumbs up from MyLotters or not?

I LOVE French Onion soup. It is usually made with a beef broth, so if you like beef broth with bread and melted cheese, the onions just add to the flavor and texture.

It is sounding better and better now. That cheese may help a lot. Parmesan?

@JamesHxstatic Yes, sprinkled on a piece of toasted sour dough bread, floating on top of the soup and then placed in the oven to melt the cheese.

@JamesHxstatic We have always used a gravy base and added herbs and spices. I am a vegetarian so adding beef is disgusting. I have it with croutons and cheese.

@pgiblett Okay, I was thinking it might be that you are a vegetarian, as is my daughter.

We do eat lot of soup, like lentil, chicken noodle, and clam chowder and I suppose much of it contains onions.

I like French onion soup if it is well done, most of the time it's too watery or too strong. A good French onion soup is delicious, I make mine, buying the sweet French onions and a French baguette bread to put on top before adding cheese.

One of my favorite soups of all time. Had some last week. It was delicious. You do need to take your time cooking the onions long and over a lower heat in order to get the right flavor. I've had it out where they weren't cooked as long and it does make a difference.

It's delicious! For a soup that has onions in it, it really doesn't taste like onions to me. I think the onions just bring out the other flavors in the soup and add a bit of texture to the broth rather than the meal actually tasting like one big onion. beef broth, melted cheese on top, and a big crouton... one of my favorite soups especially when it's so cold out.
