Top rated discussions

I spent some time trying to find out how discussions are rated.
This is what I found
1. It is based on likes and not responses - Please like my posts. Will you? (lol)
2. What you see there is a one day show and that day is calculated watching the myLot clock. See my plight. When others are wide awake I am dead to the world. No wonder my discussions never find a place among the top rated.
3. The secret therefore is Indians should stay awake at ghastly hours and be active here. Will I? Never. I will not trade my sleep for anything in the world.
Rather than target for that much envied place I will learn to accept my position whatever it is.
Hope you learnt something from this post

No chance at all. Anyway thanks for that. The time zone factor plays a major role here and as I have said in my post I have taken it in my stride.

@allknowing Yes,I have learned some things from your post.We have to do either one of the two options.1.Set our clocks to mylot time.We should sleep during the day and keep awake during night.
2.Learn to accept our position whatever it is.Well,I have to choose option 2.

The sad part is there is a tendency to go for the top rated posts and they go up and up and we go down, down down.

@allknowing May be we should do what Franklin.D.Roosevelt said.
''When you come to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on''.

Thanks for liking my post. Hardly anyone has seen my post. This is what I mean. It is not visible to many.

Top/hot lists aren't something I worry about.
As long as my discussion gets more than one response I'm happy

When a start a new post I do not bother under which category it is going to be placed. I am concerned with the responses received and further interaction with friends.

There is a big time gap between India and Eastern Time here in America.

The time that you are online should not be so critical because people read the discussions whether you are awake or not. As for Top Rated, it would be almost impossible to predict what would achieve that position and what would not, so I simply plod along regardless.

Around 9 to 4 there is a lull in my activity page. In other words no one seems to read my posts nor comment on my responses at that time and by the time they are ready my posts would be right down somewhere that no one would want to look for.
You get my posts because you look for them and there are a few others too.

Well I find discussions in the people section so i can still reply to those across the world so their post get recognized also. I see some post that don't get recognition and they should.

The people's tab have posts that go by first come last served. In other words our posts which normally appear first go to the bottom and not many take the trouble to go that deep to search for our posts.

Now i know how discussions are rated. I have been a member of mylot for years but this is the first time i learned this. Whenever i post something here it gives me so much relief when someone makes a comment taking my discussion off the "Discussions Without Response" list.

A discussion is not to be ignored but given recognition. You are right. It does feel good when our discussions are noticed.

So we Indians can never make it, huh? I don't sit in front of the computer after nine. I learnt something new from your post.

I have not seen a single post from an Indian here getting the top rank.
