Any tips before going to Vietnam?

I'm planning to go to Vietnam in the future. Hopefully next year, since my long distance boyfriend lives there. So I was wondering if there's anyone here who's been there or lives there and can give some good tips to remember.

I don't visit there. Only knows that the country had a long and serious history background.

I do not have any tip.But a dear friend of mine came back a couple of years and loved it.

That's good to hear. They say Vietnam is a beautiful country but the traffic is kinda not that okay.
