I really hope that atheist people would just be principled in not bashing religious people and start in being more proactive and spiritual.

I would love to hear your thoughts on how atheists could become "more proactive and spiritual." Do you mean that they should start following a religion? And why is it unacceptable for atheists to bash religious people, yet perfectly fine for religious people to bash atheists' beliefs (or lack thereof)? What I find most interesting is that there have been scientific studies that have shown that atheists consistently do good deeds for the sake of doing good deeds more often than those who follow a particular religion. It's certainly food for thought, isn't it?

Well said! I often wonder how many religious people do good deeds because they feel they have to to ensure they get a place in heaven rather than doing them because they think it's the right thing to do!

@MALUSE I don't mind that, because there are no rules that dictate that we have to discuss one topic or another and we're free to ignore any and all discussions that are on topics that don't interest us. The same is generally true about other sites. @WorDazza I had an acquaintance on my friends list on Facebook several years ago who was constantly posting things about how grateful she was to God for events that happened in her life, or saying that it was "God's plan" when things didn't go the way she wanted them to. It occasionally seemed to me that the "God's plan" line was a convenient excuse, and she would rarely take responsibility for her own actions and behavior. I finally threw up my hands and unfriended her when she was on the verge of being evicted from her apartment for not paying her rent and her only response to the situation was "I'll leave it in God's hands." Of course, that's an extreme example, but I certainly feel it's true that she was not behaving altruistically most of the time. It felt like everything was part of the "I'm such an awesome person!" show.

I think you're rather missing the point. They can't be 'spiritual' because they don't believe in religions.

@sayatta1234568 I found you had posted four discussions under the title religion. Why the same title?

We should not make fun of religious people. We should not make fun of any religious person.
