That was a record time for flying to New York from Palm Beach! Sadly, my brother, his wife, and his adorable dachshund, Lulu, who I adore, had to return home after 21 days in Florida. I miss them so much. I use FlightAware to track flights, departure and arrival times, etc. It keeps my mind at ease. My brother texted me when he landed. I wrote back that I knew. Fortunately, he'll return February 3! I'll track that, too.

I'm glad that they arrived home safely, now you and your hubs can spend some quality time before your son and his family arrive-that will be a busy time! I'll have to use that website to track our son's flight, he flies out just after 10pm tonight. And you know, he's got a purpose behind this trip.

@DianneN They fly back into Toronto around 8pm on a Sunday night. Knowing that Dad and I won't go up there during the week, we don't have the time with working, he asked us to drop her off during the day on that Sunday, so that she's waiting for him there. Her sister has a key to their home, so if anything happens she'll be able to care for Ellie.

Wishing him a safe flight and a fun time. I am sure he will miss Ellie so much. My son's miss their pets when they travel, just as we used to miss ours. Our son is not coming here, unfortunately. We booked a hotel as close to the ice skating arena as we could get. We will only see them up in Orlando between practices and events and for meals. To me, it's better than nothing.

@Juliaacv I hope you do it late enough to feed and walk her, unless her sister will. That's great that her sister has a key, especially if they get delayed. They will have to get their baggage and go through customs, too, you know. That takes time, so keep that in mind, plus the ride home from the airport. Are you tracking their flight?

They surely had tail wind, I like when the trip takes less time than expected.

@DianneN I remember that from Nice (France) to New York took at least one hour more than from New York to Nice.

@LadyDuck That's what I'm saying. The less time spent in a plane, the better!

It always takes longer flying home from Europe due to the headwinds. The same when we fly west to California, Hawaii, etc. With the crazy weather we have been having here, I am certain the winds blew them home!

The pilots probably want to land early to avoid the snow or bad weather that is going to hit the city. Glad that they are safe and sound, though I think they rather spend more time in Florida.

I heard that airlines are busy preparing for that storm. My brother is returning for one week in February, and they'll all be down again in March for a couple of weeks. Thank you!

With the advances of technology you can do things that were not possible before. I was surprised with all the features from my nephew's iphone. These devices are incredible.

@DianneN Well, learning to use the features of such devices is not easy for everyone and demands a lot of time. At least you can use the tracking very well. :)

@Rick1950 Only because I had his flight number! The rest just took some reading ability.

It is true. My problem is that I can't work most of the features!!!!! I am a technical dummy.

That is good that they got home before the big storm came. Sounds like a lot of flights are being cancelled today.

They lucked out. The storm is due to hit them on Saturday, especially along the coast where they and our younger son live.

Wow that was a quick flight. I wish I could see my brother while I am down here but he lives outside Atlanta and his wife still works.

Atlanta is surprising far. My sis in law works, so had to return. My brother can work online and on the phone. He is so lucky.

I use the same thing DianneN in fact when the chairmen came to apologise for the late arrival of our flight back to the UK and told us it would not be that long to wait now. I pointed out to him that it had not even reached Canada yet so it was going to be at least another couple of hours! He remarked it was charming the passengers knew more about his flight than the Chairman. He gave us free return tickets to New York which we are going to use at Easter!

It is good if you are tracking friends or family, especially if you have to meet them at the airport. It lets you know if the plane left on time or will arrive as scheduled.

Glad that he was able to make it home as many flights are being canceled along the east coast with the coming blizzard there. Bet you are glad you are here in Florida only dealing with the rain with the wind

We have so much fun together. I am so far away from my family that I feel secure when they are here, even if I don't see them every day.
