Most Old Posts of Mine Aren't Recyclable, but Where to Put the Ones That Are?

I've still been able to retrieve a few older posts from Bubblews, but most of them aren't recyclable as they are either tutorials about bubblews itself, or about various things going on at that time like the weather or general fluff posts. The only way I can utilize weather posts again is to compare the weather then to what's going on now, but I doubt I'd look them up for that reason. I do have posts, though, that did quite well when Bubblews got views from the web along with members there. Many of those posts were related to tutorials, which I can't see doing much over here. I have tutorials of using Evernote, one of the more popular cloud programs for various devices. I also did some research about cloud programs for those that have never used them before. I had tutorials on how to use Wordle, a word-cloud program online, and a few other tutorials. I'm thinking I should take time to work on putting some of these on Hubpages where they get views from the web and it may provide additional passive income in the years to come. If anyone here is interested in learning about Evernote or how to use it best, let me know and I'd consider putting something together for that purpose. Has anyone else done tutorials about topics other than mylot that has done well for you?

I don't think of myLot as a place for "serious" writing like tutorials. That's not why people come here. Honestly, when there's too much content in a myLot post, I'll either skim it or, most likely, skip it altogether. On the other hand, HubPages is a great place for well-written tutorials. That's what I'd recommend.

I agree with Ronald. Short posts that make for a lively discussion are your best bet here. Hubpages would be a good fit for a tutorial. I like Wizzley, too, and personally get more visits there than I do on Hubpages. I don't know why.

@Sheilamarie78 Do you have the time to be interactive with the other members there too, Sheila Marie, or where you at one point after starting there? I know many places only make money if interaction is involved, like here and bubblews in it's later states. I don't think that's a place I ever checked out.

You're right about myLot. This is more of a social networking site than somewhere to place long tutorials

Most of my Bubblews articles are too short for Hubpages but I've improved a few and have started posting them at Expertscolumn.

@MarshaMusselman I like Hubpages and Expertscolumn because they both give me passive income.

@salonga Were you active at hubpages when you first began, and what about expertscolumn? I've never heard of that one, but I don't have time to be active enough at most sites to get started, so I do one at a time. I began at hubpages before finding bubblews, so gave it three months of my solid time. I'd think that got me started there, but now I barely check back in, so what I'm getting is passive income to be sure.

I've never heard of that one before. I'm thinking of hubpages because I'm still making something there even though I don't visit anymore. If I joined any other sites I'm sure I'd have to be somewhat interactive for a bit, or even longer. If they are anything like mylot or bubblews toward the end, then without any interaction, one's posts don't do very well.

I remember your posts about Evernote Marsha, I am not sure that here there is the right audience for those tutorials.

@MarshaMusselman Many of us already know enough, the new users, if they are not interested, will not take the time to leave a comment. I think you should skip tutorials.

That's what I'm thinking, plus they'd do better with future views too, and here we mostly get fairly current ones for the most part, I'd think.

I read all yours on Bubblews Marsha, but I can't speak for what other people would like. Hubpages might be your better option, but I don't know.

All my stuff was fluff on B. I remember your posts, but I am happy doing what I know, which is not much!

I doubt that, meaning you know more than you let on. I only write what know too, but sometimes I've learned things from doing a bit of research.

I did create a tutorial on creating avatars, but I honestly cannot remember how popular the post was.

Did you do that around Christmas, when I was having problems getting mine animated correctly, or was it a long time ago? I'd take a look at it, but I don't want to have to sift through all your discussions. If done recently, I can find it, I'm sure, if your title isn't cryptic. On bubblews there were several of us that were using evernote, although I'm probably the only one that got carried away with it. I have oodles of notebooks. I'm keeping it simpler here though, but I still use it to keep track of who I visited with last and somewhat of who visits with me.

@MarshaMusselman This was a few years ago and I placed it on Bubblews. It was aimed at creating a static non animated avatar from scratch using clipart and text etcetera. The animation issues here caused by the overall size of the avatar is a different matter altogether.

What is evernote? Could you explain just a little bit about it?

Evernote is like dropbox and other programs that are cloud servers willing to let you store documents, notes and images and such on their cloud server. You can then access it by any device, computer, tablet, smart phone and that type of thing. I began using evernote while writing for bubblews. I keep track of many things,, not as much as I did before, but I have a considerable amount of data I can store each month for free. You can look it up under to see more about it.
Bring your life's work together in one digital workspace. Evernote is the place to collect inspirational ideas, write meaningful words, and move your important projects forward.

Been at the blogging and freelance writing stuff for several years and in the process either have either set ups blogs where my content can go OR am active on other writing sites that will accept my previously published content. I'm not really having a problem finding a new home for my stuff. Regarding the material that can't be recycled? Fortunately I don't have a lot. It's water under the bridge.

@MarshaMusselman - I hear you. Fortunately myLot is a great Bubblews replacement.

It's the consensus that tutorials won't do that well here, and that seems to be the case, unless I happen to find ones that pique the interest of more members, but I wouldn't know what that was until it did or didn't. I didn't keep a copy of most of my writings from bubblews, so those will be water under the bridge too, whether I like it or not.

I've saving what I'm able to retrieve as i didn't save too many while writing them. I'm sure I can redo many from scratch if I choose as well.

I had like six or so evernote tutorials, ones on using wordle, on using the print screen function and similar things, and only about two of the evernote were still available. I've not located any of the others yet. But most of those things I've done enough of them to easily write new posts when I'm ready. I saved all the pictures related to them also in specific folders too.

@MarshaMusselman I've never gone back to Bubblews to try to get my posts. They weren't more than fluff and the ones that were important are on my hard drive.

@Auntylou Those are just three I found fairly easily. I've tried for a while on my own posts and found that even when I knew the whole title, that doesn't bring it back as good as specific and simple keywords. Had I used the whole title right after bubblews shut down, it might have brought those posts forward then, but not so much now. Even so, they are still around somewhat and well worth looking until they disappear entirely. If you have a problem finding more, I'll see if I can do any better. I'd just need some more info from you first. I'll let you try now and we'll go from there.

Don't forget this is a discussion site so anything you post must have some discussion points. Admin have been way softer here than on old mylot as I've seen loads of "discussions" that would have been removed on the old site. That being said adiscussion must have discussion points.

Well, when I did tutorials before, many found things to discuss about the post, so that wouldn't be a problem I don't think. Even then, this seems to be more of a social site than anything else. I'd want to post my tutorials someplace where they'd get continual traffic, not just readers within a day or week or so.

@MarshaMusselman they may well get continual traffic here but possibly not very much traffic. I'm not sure this is the right place for tutorials although that's just my own personal opinion and people may disagree with me. Entirely up to you what you post and maybe they'll do well here. If you've done them before and they've done ok then obviously I'm wrong so post them

I have done few on Persona Paper which could be used elsewhere with some editing - tutorials on Pixabay, Flickr, copyright of images, and a couple of others. Not the sort of stuff which would do well on myLot though.
