Many say that we will never have world peace but others are more optimistic, believing that it will come about some day. What is you opinion and what do you think is the biggest obstacle that humanity will have to overcome before it can happen. Is it the fact that we speak so many different languages? Is it religion or might it be a racial problem? Is it the the fact that rich nations take advantage of poorer countries? Lets hear what you thing.

At the moment religion is probably the thing causing the most visible trouble but apart from that it'd be natural resources that will be causing a problem very soon.

People will start killing each other for fresh drinking water. We will never learn to share what we have.

Thanks Mike, I am inclined to agree with you. These are two of the biggest problems. Do we think we may ever achieve world peace? Blessings.

The biggest challenge to world peace is the human ego.

I do not think that speaking different languages is an obstacle. But I think that economic interest is one. A war makes money. It makes also money to maintain some countries in the third world while a small Tobin tax paid by developed countries would level any difference quickly. It is more interesting to divide people than to preach for tolerance and peace.

Sadly, it's true that war makes money but surely we can learn to do things better. Blessings.

In part it is religious fundamentalism and in part it is the culture of hate that has been bred by western society since the Russian revolution in 1918, the enemy may be different today but people are taught to hate Islam in the west today.

Thank you Peter and I think you make a great point. Isn't it strange that we consider ourselves Christian nations, yet preach hate rather than love. Blessings.

@Pose123 iI am not a Christian, but am a great believer in the Sophist approach and that we must consider the needs on the majority (comprising mainly the poor masses) which need a greater say in what happens. I am an advocate of true democracy.
