Freeloading, but not really! Had a nice lunch with my former co-workers!

A few days ago, my former co-workers contacted me and invited me out to lunch for today (Friday) And, I agreed to met with them. It was nice catching up after 2 months, just chit-chatting. Since they said they were inviting me that means they were treating me out and I didn't have to pay. Even though I insisted I would pay for my portion, they did not allow it. It was really nice of them to pay!
We ate at a Vietnamese restaurant. I ordered a fully loaded rice entree that consist of:
- Grilled pork and chicken
- Shrimp paste in bean curd skin (which is totally delicious!)
- Pork Rinds
- Steamed meatloaf
- An egg
Served with broken rice also side of vegetables.
I had hot green tea for my drink since the restaurant didn't have any can soda available. I prefer can soda over tap.
Overall: My meal was totally delicious and loaded! Picture doesn't justify how good the food was.
Have you ever ate at a Vietnamese Restaurant? What do you usually order from a Vietnamese Restaurant if you've been to one?

@infatuatedbby Yes, those soda will surely be diluted. I usually order them without ice.
The Pho I tried was quite good, it was quite similar to Chinese noodles, but a bit different. I just couldn't tell the difference.
Now I remember trying another Vietnamese dish in these recent years. It's some veggie wrapped inside a kind of rice wrapper. I totally can't remember what it's called. I like that dish.

Was it rice paper? It is probably Spring Rolls maybe! I love Spring Rolls also with the peanut sauce especially.

They do have soda, just not canned soda. I prefer to drink canned soda at restaurants because the ones in tap are always diluted with ice. By the time I'm done enjoying my meal, the drink is so watered down.
Oh yes, beef soup noodles is very common for Vietnamese food. It's called Pho. I enjoy Pho too but I was craving some broken rice. Did you like the pho?

I have gone with my sister in the past, and always have extra for the next day. I usually get rice, with chicken or pork cooked, and veggies. We don't have any around here, so I don;t go often. Glad you had fun, and was able to catch up.

That is awesome you are able to eat authentic Vietnamese food! I really love Bun Bo Hue too!!! One of my favorites actually. I never really ate Bun Bo Hue in my household, but when I met my boyfriend, his family always made Bun Bo Hue and I instantly loved it. Especially on colder days and the soup is warm!

@infatuatedbby In France there were many Chinese and Vietnamese restaurants, here in Switzerland we have none.

Such a lovely time spent with your co-workers. Your meal looks amazing! I absolutely love Vietnamese food! I interchange orders between beef/chicken pho, rice vermicelli with roast pork/spring rolls/sausages. Here's a picture of a rice vermicelli I had at a Vietnamese place in Sydney. Can't resist the sweet, sour, savory spiciness of that dish. My mouth still waters just thinking of it now...:(

Not all Vietnamese dishes are spicy, but you can make them spicy if you'd like. I prefer non-spicy though.
