Winter Wonderland? heck no!!

The blizzard of 2016 is in full force and it's just nasty out there. The overnight snow left us with at least 12 inches and it's supposed to snow for the rest of the day. Going from no snow to this is crazy. Who knows what the totals will be when it's over. I'm hoping that we don't lose power and I don't mind being stuck inside while the storm howls outside. The worst thing would be to have a power outage. It's just too cold for no heat or not being able to brew a pot of coffee I'm hunkered down and watching the news as the storm moves up the coast. Guaranteed there will be lots of us posting about the blizzard today

I hope that your power doesn't go out, but just in case, I'd be brewing a pot of coffee and putting it in a thermos for later, or maybe some nice hot soup. Just a thought, stay safe.

@juliaacv good idea about the thermos. So far everything is ok but the snow is adding up quickly at between 2 & 4 inches an hour. What a mess

@Juliaacv a friend of mine was doing that to prepare. I've never thought of doing that. We would boil water on the BBQ but having it already in a thermos is a good idea.

@paigea We have a gas grill, but going outside in a blizzard is dangerous if there is a wind chill factor.

@tiarasoceanview I'm doing my best...no way I'll be venturing out in any of this crazy weather. So far the power is still on and the house is warm

Since we've always had a gas grill if the power went out I had a old fashioned peculator that we could make coffee with on the grill. We had 1/4 inch...then a few flurries now the sun is out.

We're up and over the 18" and it's still snowing heavily. It's a total whiteout and I can't see across the street

No snow here. The storm has been marching by and not even getting close to touching this area, though we used to always get hit. I have yet to see even a single snow flake from the blizzard system. Although we did get lake effect the other day of several inches.

@Marilynda1225 Our skies turned blue eventually. But it is really cold today. My face was frozen when I walked the dog.

We're getting more than originally forecasted and it's adding up pretty quickly...we're heading to 2 feet already

I hope you don't lose power! That would be awful. We put in a generator, have a gas stove, gas grill, and fireplaces. Hopefully, we will never need it. Stay safe!

@Marilynda1225 The one we had 4 years ago made our decision for us. Right there in the driveway filled with 38 inches of snow!!! How are you doing?

I hope you don't lose power. If you can stay home and have power things aren't too bad.

@paigea being stuck inside isn't too bad and the power stayed on. My internet was wacky but I could deal with that

@Marilynda1225 Glad it wasn't any worse than that. We have to be ready for power to go off when a storm has a big wind.

That blizzard you got missed us and it's just going in surrounding states. I'm ok with no snow and the temps back in the 30's. Stay safe.

@blondie2222 I would have been happy if the storm missed us too. I haven't seen a blizzard like this in years

I hope you stay safe during the storm. I haven't experienced a real blizzard since January or February of 2000 when I lived in Maryland. We must have had close to 30 inches of snow over two days. Do you remember that blizzard?

@pauliek I do remember that blizzard of 2000 and this one was about the same. We got about 30 inches of snow once it finally ended.

Vince read about the snowfalls on a news channel this morning. I hope your power doesn't go out - that would be dreadful. I'd have hot water in a thermos too.

We only got ice and very little snow. I was afraid there would be a lot of ice and we would be without power but fortunately it wasn't that bad for us. I hope your power stays on.

Yes you must keep yourself nice and warm. Can you make up a thermos flask of hot water just in case so at least you can make yourself a hot drink should the power go?
